Found a few entries in books regarding Shockey's in Elmira, NY that I have yet to find more information on to connect to our tree. (long post)

Anyone have a John L Shockey who married Betsy L. Saunders and had a daughter: Elizabeth Laura Shockey who married John Holstid?

Not sure if this may tie into the John L. Shockey from Elmira, NY but found this family that I am having issues with:

Mary is listed married to Gilbert Spencer (b. abt 1848) on the New York, State Census, 1875 in Addison, Steuben, NY

1880 Census - Addison, NY - Gilbert, Mary, and their children, Jessie (b. abt 1876 NY) and Walter N. Spencer (b. abt 1878 NY).

1158. ESSIE RAYNOR OSTERHOUDT, daughter of William Addison Osterhoudt and Ella Linzey, born Kiskatom, Greene County, N. Y., Oct. 18, 1880. On June 19, 1901, Watkins Glen, N. Y., she married (1) Walter Nathan Spencer (son of Gilbert Spencer and Mary Shockey), who was born Addison, N. Y., Dec. 1, 1877, died Watkins Glen, N. Y., July 1, 1913. She married (2) Gail Royce (son of William Royce and Ida Milligan), who was born Parish, Oswego County, N. Y., June 11, 1883. He is a rancher, and they reside in Mentone, Calif. He was on a transport ship in the World War. No children by either marriage.
