He was 85 when he died Nov 14 2004 at his home in Vienna, VA.
He was a retired lieutenant colonel in the US Army and an aeronautics company representative.
He was a native of Louisville, KY an djoined the Army in 1937 and served in the Army Air Corps as a field artillery pilot, doing reconnaissance. During the Korean War, he flew helicopters and small polanes. He retired from the military in 1961 and settled in Arlington until 1972.
His second career was as the Washington DC representative for Vought Aeronautics, a Texas-based aircraft manufacturer. He worked there for 26 years.
Col. Shiveley earned a college degree by attending night school. He was a member of teh Mason s and Vienna Presbyterian Church where he sang in the church choir. He also volunteered at Vienna Elementary School and Vienna Community Center.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Donna J. Shiveley; two daughters, Diane Mauck and Carol Waters and three grandchildren, all of Viena,VA.
