I am looking for information that might help me to link my Peter Shirer/Shirey to an earlier part of the family. My first data for him is from Stark County Ohio where he is living in the late 1830's. He is a member of the local German reformed church where there are several records of him, wife Lydia Bennett, daughter Rachel and daughter Catharine. Family oral history indicates that he comes from a line of stone masons in Germany and he works as a mason during the latter part of his life. Early records seem to link him to the Shirer line but the name changes to Shirey in the mid 1800's. Thanks
