I have a Shidler in my background. Her name was Susan or Susannah and married Alfred Perkins. I am not sure if Peter Jr Shidler, (born 1785 Bethlehem, Washington (county) Pennsyvania; died Feb 27, 1852. Mother: Mary Smith born 1784 Penn.; married 1806 Greene, PA; children Susan 1810, Lawrence, IL; Rebecca, 1817, Lawrence, IL; Lavina 1821 Cristy Twp, Lawrence, IL; Thomas 1824, Lawrence, IL) is her father or not. I believe the Susan born 1810 is probably my Susan.

Alfred Perkins married Susannah SHIDLER 13 Nov 1829 in Lawrence Co IL. They had a son named Stephen Perkins. Stephen is my great-grandfather.

I am trying to get into the DAR myself thru a different route. I'm wondering, since you mentioned a book helping you, if it might be able to help me. This is my grandmother's side of the family on my father's side. I am trying to get in thru my grandfather's side of the family also on my father's side. Thank you.
