Thank you. I don't think my ancestor is listed in DAR. He is a new one. I stumbled across him on the Internet. He was a Straub/Stroup. He was the one that changed the spelling of his name. I was thinking that the Shidler might be easier to obtain. I am having to come up with all kinds of marriage licenses, birth certificates, census records, etc.!!!!!

Anyway, thank you for your help. I will try to find that book.
