Our Thomas Sherrod was born abt 1813, his 1st son was born 1836 named James
Sherrod. Thomas would have only been 13 in 1826. There are Sherrod's in Robertson County, TN that I am trying to link my Thomas to but can't seem to. He isn't listed in any of the wills from that county from the Sherrod's. Thomas married in Williamson County, TN where his wife was from. The only middle initials I don't have for Thomas's sons are James and George but George was born abt 1856. He was the last child I think. I hope this helps

My gggrandfather could have been this Thomas Sherrod's son. He was born about 1826 in east TN. Middle initial was B. Possibly for Burrow(s). He had a daughter Elizabeth Ann Sherrod Roberts (my line) Sweet.
Is the middle name or initial in any of your information?
I believe my grandmother was born in Iowa. Lived and married my grandfather in Mo. Moved to IL. Divorced, remarried and is buried there.
I need help with this line.

Hello!
I am the gr gr gr grand daughter of William Wilson Sherrod and live outside of Nashville in Rutherford county but commute into the city almost every day and frequent the TNSLA.
Would be interested in this 225 page document on your family if it has any info on the Sherrods as you posted above.
I am trying to determine if he was in the War for Southern Independance or if any of my other Sherrod kin folk were Confederates.
My Great Grandmother was Sofie Sherrod and they lived in Bells, Tennessee where I went to elementary school until about 1970. I have seen her old house which still was standing last time I was in Bells, which was many years ago. My grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Wainwright Shaw, wife of Isaac Carlyle Shaw and my mother was Beverly Ann Shaw Buntin. My mother had two sisters, Emily Jean and Mary Beth. Emily married Bill Bradshaw then Samuel P. Weiland. She recently passed away last year on January 10, 2014.
She also was online researching this ancestor and I am following in her footsteps.
Miss her terribly since she lived here in the Nashville area since the late 1950's and worked in the country music business at WSM Radio.
Would love to share with you anything that might correspond with your family or anyone else interested in this line.

To my knowledge Purtandy was not native American. She was born in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Thomas Sherrod is my problem--do not know his parents and/or siblings. However I do know all his children and there are 12 of them. Would love to have your information!

What I found on Thomas Sherrod was in the document I found on Elijah Taylor his son Richard Sherrod's father n law. I am still researching wills in Robertson County, TN where Thomas lived.
In the document it does prove that Richard Sherrod is Thomas's son. Richard married Sara Jane Taylor. Thomas Sherrod owned a business in the 1860 in Wellwood Community of Madison County, TN. He went bankrupt after the Civil War and was insolvent. He owed Elijah Taylor money that was loaned to him and couldn't pay it back. Because of being insolvent and bankrupt Thomas and Purtandy relocated to Mississippi. There has been doubt if that was the same Thomas Sherrod that was found in the Census living in Lee Mississippi along with his son Felix. The document does prove that, it is the same Thomas Sherrod. They did return to Tennessee and he died and is buried in the Hoppers Family Cemetery. Since he was insolvent and didn't have any money he did not leave a will. The documents I have even state that he owned nothing but had a whole bunch of kids. Once I find any information on Thomas's parents I will let you know. I hope this helps. I am still researching and will be happy to share anything I find.

Would love tohave copies of what your found on Sherrod/Taylor! Thomas Sherrod is my gggrandfather and can't find where he was born,who his siblings were, and where he is buried--anything about him in your findings?

My grandfather David Ethridge Sherrod married Lillian Brigance Taylor--she had two daughters by her Taylor husband--they were Mary and Flora. Any news on any of these people would be appreciated. Jo S.

I have been doing research on the Taylor/Sherrod side of my family, recently made a trip to the TN State Archives in Nashville and in doing some in depth research on, I was able to find information on about Thomas Sherrod in the documents I found on the Taylor's. The Thomas and Purtandy Walden did relocate to Mississippi for a time and in the information it stated the reasons. In further research I cannot find any documents that states that William Henry Sherrod is his father. He would most likely had to been married before since he married after the time frame that Thomas was born. The documents I found also states that my relative Richard Sherrod who married Sara Jane Taylor is the correct relations to my family. The document I found is 225 pages long and holds some key information. If you would like any information that I may have I will be happy to share what I have found

I am a Sherrod decendant and am looking for information on Bernell and Butler Sherrod. My 2nd great grandfather was Robert Sherrod who married Susan "Susie" Clay. They were both from Virginia and migrated to Mississippi. They had a son named Butler and his brother was Rev Henry Southall Sherrod, who was my great grandfather. From Butler I believe are his grandsons, Bernell and Butler.

Well, I'm just 11 years late with an answer to this. There are still copies of this book available. You need to contact David Gray (firemax1@aol.com). Last time I was in contact with him, he still had copies of the book at a cost of $40 plus shipping. It about three inches thick and has hundreds of entries. There has been talk for some time about updating the book, but I'm not sure where that stands right now.

Hello Family!
I'm so excited to hear from you. My name is Michelle and I also am a descendant of Sarah Sherrod. Her daughter, Dora, is my great-great grandmother. I do have a photo of her on my family tree. Dora had two daughters Fannie and Bessie Easton.
Any tree by (migileno) or (migilen_123) belongs to me. You will find Dora's photo there as well as my grandmother, Dora Adams.
I know my uncle Russell was at the reunion in 1995. He passed the book from the reunion to my mother who passed it on to me.
I also started a tree named Preston Sherrod but I don't know how we are related.
The information that I have about Sarah/Sahara ended with Kit Jr and Joseph moving to the gulf coast. That is why I am so happy to hear from you. I don't know much about Sarah(Sahara)other than what you already know. The information that I have about the father of her children is also that he was white and possibly a doctor. I only found the name Randle/Randall based upon other public family trees. However, the names that I have match other trees but the timelines do not match.
For instance, I have Mattie Sherrod as Sarah daughter. Is she her daughter or granddaughter. If she's the granddaughter, who is her mother or father?

John Sherrod - Delaware, Ohio

John Sherrod, 36, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014.

He was born August 31, 1977 in St. Louis, MO.

John completed his undergraduate work from Allegheny College and received his J.D. and MBA degrees from the University of Akron.

John was the best dad, a loving husband, and will be greatly missed by his wife, Nicole.

He was a kind-hearted son and brother.
He had a brilliant legal mind and was a passionate trailblazer for foreclosure defense.

John was a former minor league baseball player, a dog lover, and a fun spirit who loved to travel to Florida.
Private services for John's family were held.

Henry Sherrod, Carey Sherrod

Hi,

I'm a Sherrod and I am looking for relatives that stem from Martin/Edgecombe NC area. I currently have census information for Henry Sherrod my ggrandfather who was born approx between 1878-1882 (it's unclear in the reports as well). Henry was Married to Mary Ridley who lived from 1888-1992. They had a son Andrew Sherrod my grandfather of Martin Co. was born 1909 and was murdered sometime around 1935 or so. I believe Henry's parents may have been Carey(born abt 1844) & Cherry Sherrod of Edgecombe, but at this point things seem to get fuzzy. The 1910 has Henry & Mary's race as Mullatto and I have met my ggrandmother on several occasions in Bridgeton NJ and she is very fair skinned with long hair and passed away at 105 (too bad I didn't have these question as a youngster when she was still alive as she was a brilliant woman who wrote childrens books in her day and could recite them from memory til death. Many members of my family have indian connections of some sort. There is also a Charity Martin who lived with Henry and Mary which holds keys to many Indian census reports connecting Mildred Wilson back to the Cuffee indians, Bass Indians, and Martin indians from Deep Creek VA & Prince Ann Area. Could anyone possibly shed some light on this for me? It's been a real journey!

My grandfather's name is George Washington Sherrod, born March 10, 1877 in Columbus, MS. His father name was Charles Sherrod and his mother's name was Littie Mixon. My grandfather moved to Memphis TN and married my grandmother Estelle Dorsey Johnson Sherrod and my mother, Clemmie George Sherrod, was born to them November 1922.

Hello my name is Carline Williams. My grandfather was Bobby Sherrod. He had several sisters and brothers. His father name was Scott Sherrod, we were always told that his mother name was Katherine (Choctaw), however I did find in the census some of his sisters and brother. But the mother name was Sarah that was listed. So if you have any infomation on this please reply back. Name of sisters ane brother: Henry Sherrod,Rudis Sherrod, Ranie Mae Sherrod, Letroy Sherrod, Dorothy Sherrod. I was told that Henry, Rudis, Dorothy, Letroy and Ranie Mae lived in Missouri, then to Memphis. Dorothy married a man named Charlie Jones and had several children. Letroy moved to Pasco Washington. All help is appreciated

Bascom Sherrod was married to Ruby, they had 4 sons George, Ramsey, Foster and Lloyd. As per the 1920 census
