Hi Mark
My name is Mark Barker, i live in England and have been trying to research the Great Grandmothers family tree/history. Her name was Alice Sheedy born Kilmallock Limerick Ireland. I know she lived with her sister in 1881/91 with her sister and Brother In Law, and I know she married my GGF, Michael McGregor in Dublin, she sadly passed away during childbirth 1924 giving birth to her 6th child who unfortunately passed away not long after.

If possible Mark i would like to use you info on here to see if they link together, unfortunately i can find no records of Alices parents or siblings

Mark

Alanna,

My name is Mark sheedy and live in the state of Pennsylvania (America). I have been working on my families genealogy for years. My brother Peter was in Ireland on business a couple of weeks ago and stopped by St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s church to follow up on information that I had provided to him about our family. Unfortunately, you were not available at that time. I would appreciate an information you could add to my research.

My research has reviled that Michael O’Brien and Catherine O’Brien had a son named Oliver O’Brien. He was born on February 03, 1835. The parish is listed as Cahir Parish, in the county Tipperary. The sponsor was Mary Walsh.

Oliver married ??? and had a daughter Hanora O’Brien born about 1854. Hanora O’Brien married Michael Sheedy (1852 - 1898) on February 7, 1875. He was a Black Smith and she was a Servant. Her mother was listed as a Thatcher. Witnesses to their marrage were James Walsh and Mary Hanley. They were married in R.C. of St. Mary’s Ballingaddy. Michael Sheedy and Hannora O’Brien Sheedy had 9 children.
Mary Sheedy Casey February 22, 1876. Quarry Hill, Kilmallock. - Married Michael Casey. Moved to New York.
Bridget Sheedy July 2, 1877. Stone Road, Kilamallock.
Catherine Sheedy October 20, 1879
Anna Sheedy July 2, 1881
Michael Joseph Sheedy September 19, 1883, Moved to United States and settled in Stoneham Massachusetts. Died March 1953.
William Sheedy November 11, 1885 (My grandfather). Moved to the United States and settled in Medford Massachusetts. Died 1976.
Ellen Sheedy July 13, 1888
Joseph Sheedy August 7, 1891
Oliver Sheedy September 20, 1896. Died January 26, 1899

Her husband Michael died on March 23, 1898.

Alanna, this information was gathered over years of research. I hope that you can fill in the blanks for me. The biggest question for me is “When was Hanora born and when did she die?” She was in the 1901 Census Record. House number 121 Kilmallock Town Kilmallock. Her occupation was listed as a Shopkeeper.

I hope this information will help trigger a few memories in Kilmallock. Any information you can provide is invaluable! This Genealogy research is very exciting and frustrating at the same time. The best part is making friends along the way.

Thanks for all that you do,

Mark Sheedy

My late Grandfather was a John Sheedy and he lived in Temora. Originated from Sydney. I've been trying to do our family tree (for about 3 months now) as only my mum and one uncle are left from the Sheedy line on our branch (my other uncle died on Christmas Day 2014). We have never known any relatives from his side of the family as according to anyone who can tell me...he was an only child. I'd love to get in contact with any of you and compare information/trees. Someone might be able to help me fill in some blanks? Feel free to email me at rednutta@hotmail.com and we can go from there.

Cheers
Melissa

You have stated that you come from the Sheedy lineage from John Mangles and more importantly Michael Sheedy. I believe that I may be related
My name on Ancestry is ridwes_1 if you care to view and check. If this is the correct Michael, then he had a son John (Jack) Holman Sheedy, who in turn had a son Frank who is my great Grandfather through his daughter Thelma (my Grandmother) who married William John Ridding. I still have relatives in Young (Doris Sheedy at Berthing St). I believe that most of the Sheedys from my “clan” resided in either Kingsvale, Boorowa and Wombat. I am curious of the whereabouts of their residence in and around this area and have been looking for someone to give me an idea where that may be. I would be forever grateful for any information you could give to me. I have been researching my family history for over 15 years now and it would be good to hear from someone else who has information that is not only new, but to confirm the information that I already have.I have tried to send an email to the email provided but it keeps rejecting

Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from you soon

Kindest Regards

Craig Ridding
ridwes@bigpond.com

Parnell:

I am responding to your post of many years ago. One of my great great grandfathers was Patrick Colloton (spelled a million different ways over the years). Patrick was from either Wexford or Waterford Ireland and was born around 1828. His father's name was Edward and sister's name was Catherine. Patrick came to the US before 1860 and married Margaret Croake. According to information I was given, he went to his sister, Mary's, marriage in WI.
Hi Elaine, Possibly there is a connection way back. If you look at my Sheedy family tree you see the same first name patterns - John,Michael,Thomas,Bridget,Catherine. One of my G grandfather Michael's children was born in Halifax and another in Durham so they did move around before settling in Walton le dale,Preston. He also had a brother John born 1831. I did not get any further in a recent trip to County Clare apart from them probably being from Scarriff area in the east of County Clare and meeting some lovely people. Good hunting Chris Morton - hmnw40776@blueyonder.co.uk

I am descended from Ann SHEEDY born ca 1818 & Philip MURRAY born 1813 who married in 1831 in Borrisokane, Co Tipperary. Philip was a sergeant in the 87th regiment Royal Irish Fusiliers. He enlisted in 1837 & was discharged in 1859. He spent 8 of his 52 years in the army in 'the East Indies' and Ann was with him some of the time, certainly in 1846 when they were in Dundee, Scotland.

I have no knowledge of their families. Do these names appear in anyone's research? Is anyone related to this couple?

All help gratefully received. Many thanks.

I am looking for a connection to my Sheehy/Sheedy family. My great grandmother is Mary Sheedy/Sheedy. She married Michael Riordan. They had 3 girls, Bridget/Delia, Margaret (my grandmother), and Mary. I found an immigration record for Bridget, 1901 going to cousin Richard Sheehy in Kansas City, Kansas. Richard was living with the Cornelius Carr family in 1900. He was listed as brother-in-law to Cornelius. His sister would have been Johannah. Richard is not living with the Carr family in 1910 census.
The dates I can figure out are:
Bridget Riordan, born 1888, immigration 1901, (married John Downs)1904 in either K.C. or California
Richard Sheehy, born 1859, immigration 1883
Cornelius Carr, born 1859, imigration 1883
Johannah Sheehy Carr, born 1866, immigration 1885
To Brian Sheedy: My Grandfather(maternal) was Michael Sheedy married to Sabina (Murphy) Sheedy. They had eight children Thomas and Mary (twins)Anna(Anne)my mother ,Daniel,Charles and Martin (twins), Margaret (Peggy)and Teresa. All are deceased except Daniel.Michael and Sabina lived in Philadelphia. Sabina was from Co. Mayo Ireland and Michael from Co. Clare. In 1981 My mother and I visited The Clare farm and met Tom(Tassie) and Val. they have since died. I believe the farm was left to their younger half brother Chris. My mother told me her father was in correspondence with a brother in North Dakota, and maybe in the midwest. I did not know about the MA connection. From Michael and Sabina there are 22 grandchildren. 12 with a Sheedy surname. Michael Sheedy died in Nov 1953, My sister was six months old and he bought(mail-ordered) a hugh doll for her.
