Hi Monique! I suspect we are related, although I'm not sure exactly how. Your grandmother, Mabel Shaar had a brother named Elmer. He is buried in the same plot as my great grandmother, Lydia Ann Shaar. I have yet to track down the exact connection between them. John Michael Zartman (b. 5/3/1754, d. 1/1/1825) was a farmer in Brickerville, Lancaster Co. PA. Married Margaretta Eichelberger.
Children: Catharina (b 10/9/1783, d 12/27/1843), Elizabeth (b 3/16/1785 d 8/11/1788), twins (b 3/20/1787) Magdalene and Anna Maria, John (b 9/25/1789), Elizabeth (b 5/12/1791), George (b 8/18/1793), Margaretha (b 10/24/1796 d 9/8/1853), Barbara (b 10/20/1798), David (b 6/6/1800). Catharina, Magdalene, and Margaretha never married.
Alexander Zartman, referred to as the second for clarity, (b 7/29/1731 d 12/2/1803) married Magdalena (surname unknown) who survived her husband, but date of death is unknown.
Children: John Michael (b 5/3/1754), Alexander (b 3/19/1756), Susanna (b 10/11/1759), Maria Elizabeth (b 6/11/1761), Catharine (b 10/9/1763 d unmarried 9/27/1843), Emanuel (b 6/1/1765), Margareth (birth unknown).
Alexander Zartman came from Germany on the ship Albany, departing Rotterdam Holland on 6/22/1728, and arriving on 9/4/1728 in Philadelphia, with his wife, Ann Catharina. They settled in Lancaster County, PA.
