I have been researching several Shanahan's in the Rochester, NY area. I came across several Mary's, all of which seem to have married Shanahan's. It would help me help you if I knew what Shanahan Mary had Married. Good luck

Dear Tomara: Thanks for your reply. Problem is at this time I do not know first name of Mr. Shanahan husband of Mary Sullivan. Best I can add here is some info about her. Born in Cty Cork ca 1869...Macroom area...small townland of Gortenaden. Parents Cornelius Sullivan and Margaret Buckley. Apparently she had other siblings also living in upstate New York.

Sorry I can add more but if you come upon her in your database I would be most grateful for any info. If you see a connection to the above info, I would be happy to share info.

Thanks much! Donna

I have viewed the index for Marriages in Rochester NY. I started with 1914 and went to 1950. The only Sullivan I saw was Bridget Sullivan who married John Shanahan in 1920. I came across many Mary's in my Cem. search. The closest match to your description is Mary Shanahan buried 4/17/1937 at age 68. Her obit said she died 4/14/1937. She left 5 daughters, 26 grand children and one brother, Charles Higgins. I could not locate a headstone on her but if she rings a bell I can give you the names of her daughters.
There are a few others with birth years close enough to mention. Mary Shanahan 1861-1927 She shared a headstone with her husband, Daniel Shanahan 1857-1939. Another Mary Shanahan, in Cemetary born 1861-1931 I didn't find her headstone. There are more if you need them. WB

We have just located a cousin who has a journal and are hoping to find something useful in there. Will get back to you if that works out but in the meantime want to thank you for your efforts of looking through your files. We all appreciate your kindsness!!

I noticed you had a John Shanahan. I am interested in any info. you have on him.
Where in Ireland was he from and when did he
immigrate to the US. I am searching for my
greatgrandfather who was from Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, he immigrated to the US, I think
in the early to mid 1900's.

Thank you

Hi Cathy, Thanks for your note. My Daniel Shanahan came from Tullagh, Cty. Cork. His Father was John and his Mother was Ellen Shehey. Beyond that all I know is that he settled for life in Buffalo, NY.

Any connection? I'd be happy to share. Donna
