Interested in the Shanahan family of Abbey
Dorney who left for Waterbury, CT in the 1890s.
Shanahans in this part of Kerry married into
the Boyle and Costello families.

This may be the connection I have been looking for....Mary Shanahan (possibly the daughter of Michael Mary Shanahan) married Patrick Boyle. Patrick went first to Canada and started a blacksmithing business on the Hamilton Road near Dundas, Ontario. Mary Shannon followed sometime later on the Good Ship Jane Melvin. Patrick Mary had many children and were maried 65 years. They are both buried in St. Augustine Cemetery in Dundas

My Grandfather from Abbeydorney and a number of his brothers and sisters went to Waterbury CT and Washington DC around the time you mention. Some stayed - some returned. They sent two statues from America which used to be in the old Church which was demolished in 1966/7.

My family of Stacks and Kellys also immigrated from Abbeydorney to Waterbury, CT some in the 1880's and some in the 1890's.

I am related to John Shanahan who emigrated from Abby Dorney in the late 1890's. He had a number of brothers and sisters, several who left Ireland, landed in NY, and then moved to Waterbury. I'd love to share information if this seems to match your Shanahans.

I am related to John Shanahan from Abby Dorney who emigrated to Waterbury in the late 1890's. Does the date seem to fit your relatives? I have never heard about statues being donated.
