Thanks for the contact. German Sha was the brother of my gg grandmother, Pauline Eha. German changed his name from Eha to Sha around 1869 after barely escaping with his life during the Minnesota Indian Uprising of 1862 and before moving his family to Otter Tail County.

I have everyone you mention down to your father in my Sha/Eha document. I also have quite a few old Sha family pictures I would be glad to share.

Please contact me at dapwyn@aol.com and I can send you my Sha family document.

Hi Sharon,

Did I ever send the pictures of German and Elizabeth Sha's graves that you requested? Let me know what email address I should use. Send it directly to me at dapwyn@aol.com .

I can send you the latest update of my whole Eha/Sha document at the same time.

Hello,

Just came across an old post from you on my Eha family and the name Shabel
(2004). I just remembered that there is a Eha/Schiebel connection - see
below.

Xaver (Franz Xaver, Frank Xaver or Xavier) Eha b. 6 Feb 1846 Schoemberg
(Schömberg), Schwarzwald [Black Forest], Wuertenburg, Germany [from “Sha”
genealogy] m. Marie Friederike Theresia Schiebel 1871 New York City, New
York, USA d. 17 Feb 1875, 11:00 A.M [31 years] New York City, New York, USA
Cause of death: smallpox Death Certificate: "The Health Department of
the City of New York #99507, Full Name-Frank Eha, Age 29, Married,
Occupation-Architect, Birthplace-United States [?], Father's Birthplace-Germany,
Mother's Birthplace-Germany, Place of Death-Riverside Hospital, 19th Ward, he
died on-17th day of February 1875, about 11:30 o'clock, A.M., and that the
Cause of his death was First (Primary) Varilant Hemearrhagic, Second
(Immediate)-Asthemia, Time from Attack till Death-12 days, signed-James J. Delany,
Medical Attendant." [Note: Across the death certificate received from the
New York City Municipal Archives was written in large letters the word
"Cancelled." There was no explanation from the Municipal Archives on what this
might mean.” [David Petrie - dapwyn@aol.com] To Sebastian and Elizabeth Eha
were born five children: Pauline, who is deceased; Elizabeth, who married
Martin Muckenteiler and in the year 1855 came to America, locating in the
state of Kansas [actually the Muckenthalers settled first in Minnesota where
German (Eha) Sha stayed with them for a while after also arriving in
America [two years after them]. The Muckenthalers later moved to Kansas], where
she died; German, the subject of this sketch; Sebastian, who is a baker and
cattle buyer of Germany, and Frank [Franz Xaver?] who died in New York
City." [Mason's History of Otter Tail County Vols I & II (1916)] "At one page
[of the old Muckenthaler family chronicle written by Mr. Albert R.
Muckenthaler of Santa Ana, California] its written that Elizabeth Eha's brothers
(German and [Franz?] Xaver) emigrated to America while her sister Pauline and
brother Sebastian resided in Schömberg, Baden- Württemberg. Later on
several Ehas moved to Eglofs, Giessen and Hiltensweiler, Germany." [Thomas
Zitzelsberger, Achslach, Lower Bavaria - tzitzelsberger@t-online.de] [Note:
German (Eha) Sha did not move to Kansas but stayed in Minnesota. He is buried
in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church cemetery in Elizabeth, Minnesota near
Fergus Falls in northwestern Minnesota. Also, the [Frank?] Xaver Eha who lived
and died in New York City was said to have come from Germany to the United
States about 1870 with John Baptiste Eha, the son of his cousin, Paulina
Eha. John Baptiste was actually four years older than Frank Xaver Eha. Town
records in Germany show that Franz Xaver Eha emigrated to America in 1869
(fourteen years after Elizabeth and Martin Muckenthaler) [David Petrie - _d

Marie Friederike (Schiebel) Eha b. 3 Nov 1854 Rottenburg, Schwarzwald
[Black Forest], Wuertenburg, Germany d. 5 Aug 1883 Guttenberg, Clayton
County, Iowa, USA bur. Guttenberg, Iowa [Raymond Charles Arth and Jean E.
(Anderson) Arth had her headstone reset] Parents: Franz Wilhelm Schiebel b. 18
Sep 1816 Rottenburg, Schwarzwald [Black Forest], Wuertenburg, Germany m. 24
Apr 1843 Rottenburg, Schwarzwald [Black Forest], Wuertenburg, Germany d.
22 Apr1889 Rottenburg, Schwarzwald [Black Forest], Wuertenburg, Germany &
Agatha Hofmeister b. 2 Feb 1821 Rottenburg, Schwarzwald [Black Forest],
Wuertenburg, Germany d. 18 Jun 1862 Rottenburg, Schwarzwald [Black Forest],
Wuertenburg, Germany. Maria Friederike Theresia was remarried to Albert
Friedrich Stark 9 Sep 1875 Switzerland(?) following the death of Frank Xaver Eha
earlier that year. There were said to be two half-sisters to the Ehas from
Marie’s second marriage, Tessie Stark & Sophie Stark. The sisters were said
to live on Staten Island in New York, New York, USA. [Source: William Eha -
great grandson of Franz Xaver Eha] “Three years after their marriage Frank
X[aver] died. It is thought that Schiebel took her baby [Frank George Eha]
back to Germany for a while and it could be there that she remarried a man
named Albert Stark. That is not fact that she married him in Germany; it
is a fact that she married him. Anyway she and new husband and Frank Geo.
ended up (why I don’t know) on a River boat on the Mississippi. She died on
that boat and that is why she is buried in Guttenberg, Iowa. It was around
there that the boat was at the time of her death. So now Frank Geo[rge] has
lost his 2 natural parents. Stark went back to New York and remarried. I don
’t know if they had a family or not, but either Frank Geo[rge] wasn’t
treated very well or something, and that is why he asked to come to St. Paul
to his Uncle John’s, really a second cousin.” [Valerie (Rochon) Haberkorn
based on a letter from Alberta Lippmann in 1980]

Hope this helps,
