I am a direct line descendant of James and Liswell Sexton. I have confirmed Samuel Sexton (b. 1710) is the son of Liswell (born ???). With an assumption of James and Liswell who are frequently involved in land transactions, etc, as being brothers (??), you find record of James Sexton arriving into Virginia in 1726 as the primary immigrant. James received a 340 ac Land Grant from King George II in 1727, showing that his indenture for travel did not last due to the death of his sponsor. Liswell is not listed on immigration documents that I can find and is first noted in documentation in 1733 which has James and Liswell together, cutting roads through Brunswick Co, Virginia. I don't know where William or John fit in and I am not familiar with Robert. If you consider that James and Liswell may have come directly into Bruswick Co, VA due to immigration in 1726 and Brunswick records in 1727, then, John and Robert could be sons of James, but not Liswell who has documented children. James Hathcock was administrator to the estate of James Sexton in 1786 and has daughters Elizabeth 1750 and Keziah 1755 are noted, but I have not found sons?? I have found it difficult to distinguish exactly where Liswell and James came from and to which Virginia families they are connected. Finally, their lands were on the southeastern corner of Brunswick and eventually Greensville County. I would love to hear other thoughts.
