I have a Michael Szeman married to Paulina A. Soller in my records. They had children Howard L. and Delores H. Szeman.
Michael was born in 1888 in Losce Hungary, but here's where it gets confusing. Losce has about a dozen names depending on the timeframe and ethnic group describing the town. Today it is Levoca, Slovakia. Back then it was Leutschau for the German speaking enclave there. Michael and Pauline lived in Pittsburgh, Pa. I wonder if the A in Pauline A. stands for Anna. I am related to the Sollers. Let me know if you think there is a relationship with your Szemans. Cliff Eighmy

Thank you for answering! I am delighted to know that we can share our info and I will finally learn more about my grandfather's brothers.
Since my first message I have had a chance to go thru the church records for George Kikta's village and have much more info on his first marriage. I suspect we have the same info on the ancestry? As you said, the "Dragos" name was there and then ... it wasn't! But when I looked for the Ellis Island record of his first wife and two children I found a match for them under "Dragos," not Kikta. I also have a copy of his oldest daughter's birth record as issued from Slovakia and the name "Dragovna" is there. Interesting!

To make this communication less cumbersome, my email is stradleyshopping@yahoo.com
Hope to hear from you!

Leslie

It is most definite that we are connected. Your grandmother must have been Mary Koperlak, is that correct? If you are the grandson/daughter of George (Gyorgy) Kikta, that would make us second cousins. I would very much like to get your family info, as I know mine is not very accurate, since is mostly word of mouth. I can only upload the Gedcom file, but I have PDFs of the Descendants of Joannes Kikta Dragos, as well as a relationship chart for George Kikta to me (great grandniece). If you want to contact me off-line I can send you PDFs of all my research for your side of the family. I would also like to see anything you have that has the Dragos name on it. We are very curious about this designation, as it only appears between 1815 and 1897, then it disappears. Hope to hear from you sooner than I responded to you. I didn't get the alert that there was a reply. I find these to be most unreliable, but am happy for any bits of information when I can get them. Rebecca Kichta

Hello! I am very interested in your info on Martin Kikta (Kichty), as I believe he may have been my grandfather's brother. My grandfather was George Kikta (tho Dragos appears on some of our documents) and he had a brother Martin who altered the spelling of Kikta to something similar. Martin settled in the Pittsburgh area at some point.
George remained in Youngstown, OH, as a widower, who then married my grandmother.
Can we get in touch via email to see if we are connected? I would very much like to know more!
I believe my great grandmother, Mary Margaret Szeman, married to Martin Andrew Kichta (Kikta Dragos,) may have been your great grandfather's sister. They lived in Pittsburgh, PA early in their marriage, then later in VA. We have a Michael and Anna Szeman as godparents of one of their children from a baptismal certificate. Please contact me to possibly share information. She always said she was from a small down on the Czech border with Germany, but at the time of her birth she lived in Hollohaza, Abauj-Torna, Hungary, which later became part of Czechoslovakia.

Hi there. My grandfather's name was Stephen Holub. born 12/17/1904. His mother's name is listed on the birth certifcate as Marie Seman, married to John Holub. However her brother's name was spelled Andrew P. Seaman, died 12/6/1947. He had a sister Anna who died in 1930, she was married to a Baricko sp? They lived in NY/NJ area. Apparantly there were 12 of the Seman/Seaman family members. I am trying to figure out which spelling is correct. One of the sisters also married a Pacacha. If any of these names sound familiar let me know. Thanks
