I have not found an August Selig in my research, but you may find the following excerpt from an email exchange helpful in your search. Good luck!
FROM STEVE IN AZ...
"I have never known a Selig in Ohio that was not a member of the family that came from Stein, Baden-Wurttemburg (Hohenzollen), Germany.
Stein is located about 30 miles south of Stuttgart and is sometimes referred to as Hechingen-Stein. Usually only Hechingen appears on maps as neighboring Stein is too small. My (our) Seligs are from Stein. Several people, including my parents, have already been to Stein to visit our German relatives. The Stein Germans would of course be another good source of information.
Most of the Seligs came to America in 1844-1845 from Stein, Germany. The Berks County, Pennsylvannia and the Jefferson County, Ohio Seligs stem from immigrants Joachim (Jacob) Selig (1789-1871) and wife Magdalena Bummler (1791-1858); only son Herman Selig (my line) separated and moved from Ohio to Pennsylvania. If you check Ancestry or some of the other sites, these people are listed in several family trees..
