Hi GCentritto, We corresponded years ago on Ancestry re SEIBEL. I was Rivkala then (not sure why/how it changed, but I am now baby411.Maybe changed when I renewed membership?)

Back then you spoke about doing your DNA (must be a male Seibel who does it). Did you ever participate in that? My male Seibel cousin is listed with FamilyTree DNA. Did you do the swab and get results?

My paternal grandfather (Morris SEIBEL) was from Klimontow. I think he moved there when marrying my grandmother Rebecca KLOSS born April 1888. I know there were many KLOSS families in Klimontow. Rebecca's father may have been Nachum (Nathan) or Fishel (Fiszel?) born about 1857. Found him listed by both given names. Her mother was Rachel born about 1857. They came to the US (NY) in early 1900's. I visited Klimontow in 2001.

Can anyone tell me if the location of the grave site of GEORGE HEINRICH SEIBEL (born 1711, Germany; died 1784, Hilltown Twp, Bucks, PA) is known? I believe I'm descended through his line via PETER SEIPLE.
I will be in the Bucks County, PA area next summer & would like to visit the grave if possible. If his grave is not known, what is the earliest known grave of his direct descendants? Thanks in advance. Larry Seiple

I do not have any immediate relatives from KY, However I have seen immigration papers from my Grandmother who came over from Hungary in 1893. She married David Casper Seibel Sr. and my father is David Casper Seibel Jr. Casper is a family name that has carried down the lines, so I'm guessing we came from the Caspar branch of the family.

Jewish Seibels

What little I know: my great grandfather Seibel (first and middle names unknown) came to the US and settled in Galveston, TX where he made wooden barrels. My grandfather is Aaron Saul Seibel, he served in WWII in the Army, graduated from Texas A&M and became a optometrist. He currently resides in Sugarland, TX. My father was Michael Oscar Seibel (deceased 12 April, 2011) and he was a doctor (med school at OK State University Osteopathic Medical School, residency at Stanford where he was chief resident).
Now all of them are Jewish, maybe that will narrow things down, but I'm basically just trying to find out more about them. If anyone has anything pertinent to add, that would be much appreciated. By the way, my name is Jacob Joseph Seibel.
Thanks for your time and help!

Carrie sorry for the confusion but I never met you but I would like to. I was born in 1947. I met Betty, I think she is a little older than me. Betty doesn't remember but my mother and I went to her home in Richboro and Betty took me to a swim club with her while our mothers visited. I don't know why I remember this but I think it was in or about 1960. We didn't live in Doylestown that was Isabel. We lived in Phila and I think Betty and her mother visited our home there. Hope to communicate again soon.

So happy to hear from you, I have tried to find info on my mother's family for a long time. Yes, Joseph and Anna raised many children in Phila. I know many of them: Isabel, Nancy, Peggy, Robert and their children also. I never met Tom but I did meet his daughter and wife many years ago. I do have photos of most of their children that I can share with you. I have one or two photos of Joseph and Margaret.
Right now I am traveling and won't be able to get my photos until some time in June.
Anything that you know about the family that you could share would be amazing.

I will get out my documents and send you a bunch of info early next week. So happy to have made contact with you. I also have pictures of Gustave and Anne and my grandmother, Carrie, that I want to post - just have to have help putting pictures and other info on a family site for viewing. Do you have any pictures of the Seibel children, etc. Carrie M.

I believe Mathias Seibel was the first. He was born in the early 1600s (likely between 1620 and 1630, though his birth records are not available, his death is and so are his sons' births) and was the above referenced Johannes Seibel's (of Hauenstein) grandfather. He died on his estate "Seiblgut" in Ettenhausen Bayern. It is likely that estate is the product of a land grant for either his or (and more likely)his father's participation in the Thirty years war. His son, Johannes Seibel Sr. was born in 1661, and then migrated to Raiten, where Johannes Seibel of Hauenstein was born.

Thank you for replying so quickly. My Johannes Leonardi Seibel has two children listed as Sebastian and Maria Catharina. They were born in 1766 1nd 1769. Johannes father was Mauritius. They were born in Limburg. I have the line down to the Joseph Seibel that emmigrated to the US. I have Joseph Seibel's baptismal recorded in the church book but didn't find his marriage recording. So I was hoping I am on the correct family.
Thanks for your help.

No, sorry i have no Gertrude Weber. Further more Johannes Seibel and Anna Morio married in that year (1728). Could that date possibly be a date of death? I have some unconfirmed information that my Johannes Seibel's father was born in 1665, and his name was Johann (with no "es"). And that his Father's name was Matthaus. So if it is possible that that date (of your Johanne) is a date of death than it could be possible that he was the father of my Johannes Seibel (and that he died, coincidentally in the year his son was married). Do you know the names of any of his children? If you do, I would be able to either completely rule him out as a relative or link him to my family. Do you know if this individual came from Hauenstein? Or if he moved to Hauenstein? It could be possible that he is my Johanne's brother if this is so. However, as for him being a descendant of my Johannes Seibel, I don't think this is possible, because my information on Johannes Seibel and his descendant's is completely exhaustive, backed by original church records from the Rheinland. Let me know.

Good Morning, It is great that we have made a family connection. I have researched the other siblings if you'd like me to send you copies of what I've found. To date, I'm unable to find any one with info. on why Gustave and Annie left Germany. Can't find the ship they arrived on and whether they came over together or met in U.S. The info. I have said they came to the US in 1880 (both born 1860). I have post cards they wrote to my grandmother Carrie when she was in Corning, NY where I think they moved and lived for a short time (that is where she met my grandfather). Can't pin it down but I believe that Gustave worked at the Corning Glass Works as a patternmaker. Don't know why they moved to LosAngeles. When they moved there Gustave also worked as a patternmaker at a company out there. Some of their children followed them and lived in the LosAngeles area. I documents that show all that movement. It would be great if any other family members had that family history info. on Gustave and Annie. As I mentioned before I have beautiful pictures of each of them as well as the newspaper announcement of their 50th anniversary which showed pictures of them when they married and pictures of them at the time of the 50th. They were very handsome people. Let me know if you have any family info you can share and let me know what I can send you. Carrie I am the grandaughter of Carrie (Seibel) and Joseph Vang). Carrie's birthday is tomorrow. She was born in the 1890s. I have an original letter from Annie to my dad. Have a good day.

Joseph and his wife Margaret Donnelly stayed in Phila, Pa. and raised 7 kids: Joseph, Marie, Nancy, Thomas, Peggy, Isabel and Robert. Thomas was my father, he died in WWII.
hey, i don't know who you are or anything but sounds like we are related. A genealogical study was done on our family which allows us to trace our lineage to Johanne Seibel (born 1692) of Hauenstein by Karl Naab (a relative of ours). however, Franz was wrong about the wedding date, though he was correct on the year. Johanne Seibel married Anna Maria Morio on 19th of December, 1728... he was my great, great, great, great, great, great, grandfather.

Anyway, I have this information so I would probably be able to answer any questions that any Seibels have about their lineage. Also if you believe that you are a legitimate decendant of his (Johanne's) and you happen to descend from him appropriately, you may be entitled to bear a coat of arms that has passed down to those of us entitled to it from Germany (some of our ancestors were the mayor of Hauenstein, and many more were prominent statesmen, though we have no royal blood to my knowledge).

It's hard for me to know because the given names are not typical Jewish names. One way to determine it is by DNA. I already had a male SEIBEL cousin participate and am trying to get a SEIBEL cousin in Brazil to send in the mouth swabs already(we are fairly certain we are related but would like to confirm this). It has to be a male with the surname SEIBEL going back, ie must be the male genetic line. If you think you might be interested, I can send you links to the DNA organization. Are there any other clues that they may have been Jewish at one time?
