Recently a document and request for connection from one Seffinga family to another came to our attention. I don't know how long ago it was sent but the document gives information from Wommels, Friesland, The Netherlands listing the Grt Grrandf. of Helen Seffinga Paikens as Klaas Bauke Seffinga, mother Tryntje Sybrens Sybrandy, Helen's Grandfather as Bauke Klaas Seffinga and goes on to say others as well, her Aunt, Great Aunt, 2nd cousin, 3rd cousin..
It says (I assume this was Helen saying this as her name, address and so on is on bottom of this document) Item #2 above is my grandfather Ben SEFFINGA; he and his wife came to the US in 1883 to springfield, SD; they also lived at Spring Valley, Minn., and Middleburg, IA. They are both buried at Greenleafton, Minn, as are some of their children. My father is #13 below. Their children were: and it goes on to list "18" children, some with marriages. It ends with saying Perhaps Seffinga is a common name in Holland. But I wonder if by any long chance the Charles in your family could be related to item #2 above, Nicholas, who changed his name to Charles-? Maybe you could try to dig into that. I'd be interested in hearing from you. Is signed Helen Seffinga Paikens. This ring a bell to anyone? The people listed at the top of this document do appear in our Seffinga family tree with a couple dates off by a day or so.
