THE STUFFED ANIMAL HOUSE.

Frank P. O'DONNELL, believed to be demented, explained
in police court this morning how it happened that he had
preserved the bodies of dead cats and dogs, his former pets,
in salt.

The body of one dog, he said, he had kept embalmed in salt
for eight years. "I just like to take 'em out and look at 'em
once in a while," he said. Officer SEFFEL stated that
O'DONNELL lived in a small room with a number of live dogs
and cats, eating and sleeping together. He said the filth in the
room was unspeakable.

O'DONNELL denied this, but attributed his fondness for dogs
to the fact that he had been brought up with a puppy.

Judge KYLE decided the man was more to be pitied than
blamed, and asked the humane officers to look after him.
