I believe this may be my fiancé's family. I know there was an Oliver and an Ida in the family and there were twins. I think Oliver was his great grandfather. His grandfather Claude maybe in the picture. The family would have been from Canadensis Pa. Any way you can send a copy of this picture to my email? I can't open it here cause I don't have a full membership.
-Dee
( I can't recall what email I have here so I'll give my new one)
Ingeborgslilly@gmail.com

Obviously that didn't work. Sorry for the delay but honestly, I AM still looking. I don't recall that your mom was 7 at the time of the photo, she may have been a bit older, but no more than say grade school or high school age. again, sorry for the delay.

Sincerely,
Sally Huntley

I have a nice circa 1900 photo of the full Oliver P. Seese and Ida Zabriskie family. I identify the family members from the 1900 census listing. It appears to be taken in their parlor. The estimated date of 1900 comes from the visual age guess of the twin daughters.

I have attached a scan of the photo, and a pdf of the identification of the family members, to my family tree

JamesMcCartney owner mmccartney1

My mother was Ethyl Roddy b. in Johnstown in 1912.

I found a Velva E. A. Seese in the 1920 Census for the 7th Ward of Johnstown who was age 7 at the time of the census, making her the right age to be my mom's school friend. She was residing in the household of David P. & Della C. COBAUGH & is listed as "niece" to the head of household. I found her also in the 1930 census in the same household.

If you are related to Velva Seese, I will gladly send or scan the photo to you.

Sincerely,
Sally Huntley

OBIT George Seese, Lima, OH, 4-1-1891

As published in:
The Lima Daily News
Lima, Ohio
April 1, 1891

George Seese, living at 611 North Elizabeth street, died last night at 8:30 o'clock, of la grippe, at the advanced age of 68 years. He was taken sick only last Friday, and was not considered serious. He was able to walk out into the yard yesterday morning, but took worse a few hours afterward. He had a premonition of his approaching end in the morning. He declared to his daughters, with whom he lived, that he would leave them at half past eight that night, for he had seen the angels and they had told him. Strange to say, at exactly the hour he named he breathed his last, surrounded by his weeping children. The deceased was born in Germany in 1823 and came here thirty years ago. He leaves three sons, four daughters and nine grand children, all of whom but one son live here. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the German Reformed church, of which he ws a member. He will be buried in the new cemetery, beside his wife who died 23 years ago.

There are two Seesetown's in this area. One is near Ogletown on Route 56 in Somerset Co, PA between Bedford and Windber.
My family comes from the Seesetown that Sarilee described to you. It is between Dunlo and Sidman and is on a rural road that has been named Seesetown Road. Needless to say most of the people in that little hillside town were Seese's. I have copies on some of the deeded land. My ggrandfather is George Seese married to Rebecca Rhoades. I am having great difficulty tracing his roots. Any help would be appreciated.

WONDERFUL
I have a picture of George and Rebecca and many of their childrens families about 1915. I come from Orlando David born 3-5-1895. I also have more information on the other 12 children, many of whom are in this area. I believe your lineage to be that of Frank born 11-9-1979 who I am told moved to the Pittsburgh area. I even have a snapshot of him (similar to those we can get in the booths at the shopping malls.) My records tell me that you are daughter of Verna Jean and Roy Lutz born 4-29-67 --- Is that right?

I am really happy to hook up to you. I have been "stuck" on Georges siblings and parentage for years. I have been told a story of an Indian massacre where the family got separated along with a few other goodies along the way. Also recieved information on a Jacob, Conrad and Melcoir that I am not sure of either. Regular e-mail would be fine. Mine is blmh@floodcity.net. I live about 10 miles from the Seesetown (Sidman and Dunlo) you asked about, near Elton, PA. Where do you reside? We have a reunion for the Orlando David Jr branch every August -- this year about 55 people were here.

Will wait to hear from you when you can. I can also give you a phone call if you would be open to that. I work days, but can phone you from work or in the evening....which ever would be best. Thanks for responding.
As a matter of fact, my Dad tells me that Frank often stayed behind my Grandfathers house in a separate little house that was built for him. And YES he did drink rather heavily. I would live to have a copy of the death cert. Do you have a FAX machine? If so, yo could FAX me a copy at my work place. The number is 814-533-5107. Send it to my attention if possible. I will look into the Melchior and Elizabeth Orice or Orris. I have seen the Conrad and Susanna and will follow that one too. No, I did not know what George died of. Is it on the Death Cert.? Interesting. Will try to call Wednesday night around 6:30. Great to hear from you. Linda
