NICHOLS, Iowa - Billy G. Sedam, 67, of Nichols, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, March at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Betsey Neipert will officiate. Private family services will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Sedam was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Mercer County, Ill., the son of William and Phyllis Retherford Sedam. He married Carolyn Myers on Feb. 16, 1974, in Joy, Ill.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from Shellor-Globe of Iowa City. He was an avid fisherman.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two sons Donnie and Timmy; one daughter Cathy; and stepchildren, Larry Griffin of Texas, Ernest Griffin of Iowa City, Crystal Griffin of Muscatine, and Charlotte Kruse and her husband, Charlie, of West Liberty; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; his mother, Phyllis Sedam of New Boston, Ill.; and two brothers, Roger Sedam of New Boston, Ill and Curtis Sedam of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Phyllis C. Sedam, 89, New Boston, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo, Ill.
There will be no visitation. Fippinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sedam was born Sept. 14, 1916, in New Boston Township, the daughter of Joseph and Stella Beaugess Retherford. She married William Sedam Jr. He preceded her in death in 1982.
She attended the local schools.
She drove a school bus for 19 years for Westmer School District. She enjoyed crocheting, bingo and cards.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Sedam and wife Kaye of New Boston and Curtis Sedam of Clearwater, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Gene; three sisters; and two brothers.
