I have posted my Y-DNA results in the Puerto Rican DNA project webpage-
http://proyectosadnhispanos.bravehost.com/ProyectoADNPRen.ht...My posting is the last one, number 126.
You may compare your or a male Seda surnamed relative's Y-DNA to the posted results and post your own results. I strongly recommend using the Family Tree DNA 37 STR test, not the 12 STR test, see below. The Y-DNA can be used to verify relatedness within a surname. It can also estimate the generations to the common ancestor. I hope that we can use it to bridge gaps in the geneological records. For example in my case I can trace my ancestry to a Juan de la Seda who died in 1810 in Cabo Rojo. I suspect he is one of the sons of Leon Felipe de la Seda, but I have not proven it. Similarly the parents or grandparents of Leon Felipe are not known. This can also be used to confirm relatedness with any Sedas in Europe or the rest of the world.
Regarding the STRs, as we are of the most common western European haplotype R1B1c, 12 STRs is not enough and creates confusion as there are multiple matches with Y-DNA from all over western Europe. At 37 STRs we have no matches so it should be a very effective tool.
