Cleve and Rosa married in Keota,Ok on 08-20-1913.He was 22 and she was 19.They had 5 children together before divorcing.Cleves parents were Thomas and Alice Scott.They moved between Keota ok and Chicago Ill often.After the divorce Cleve became a hobo while Rosa married or lived with a few different men.Don't know when Cleve died but was last heard from around 1955.Rosa died in a institution (she bacame blind) in Chicago but is buried in Michigan.These are my great grandparents and I would love to find out more about them.If it sounds familiar please e-mail me at debbieritz@aol.com

James C Scott a Civil War Veteran- via all records I found was born about Aug 1842 in Binghamton, Broome, New York the son of Francis or Frank (abt 1818 NY ) & Betsy Finch aka Lizzie Finch ( abt 1812 NY) Scott
James C Scott first married a Elizabeth M Kersey/Cursey (1848 – 1888) by all accounts via newspaper clippings from a Murder Trial involving her son William "Willie" H Scott (1885 – 1909) of his STEP MOTHER Delia M Maloney Scott in Oct 1907 in Norwich, Chenango, New York = This was James C Scott's 2nd wife .
From marriage record I found James C. married 3rdly a Mary Park-Martin 8 Dec 1908 in Binghamton then in married Lorana J Briggs-Saunders 12 Jun 1915 in Binghamton 9 which would have been his 4 th wife not 3rd as written in the Binghamton Press as follows )

Norwich, June 14.—-Perhaps one of the oldest couples ever married in this vicinity, is James C. Scott, aged 73, and Mrs. Lorana Saunders, aged 69, both of this city. Mr. Scott is a Civil War veteran and this Is his third marriage. Mrs. Saunders, at 69, also has beentwice married before. They were married Rev. Burke. Mr Scott owns a farm near this city and will live there .

My gr great grandmother was Mattie (marthy) Wyatt. Mattie had a sister named Mary Jane Wyatt. Both girls were given to an elderly couple by the name of Davis. Mattie has said that she was raised in Greenbrier, Ar. I saw that there was a Jim Scot who had married a Mary Jane Wyatt in Greenbrier, Ar and hoped this a connection. Does anyone know of this family?

Annie Barr Scott, was born Susan Skau-ace-er, changed her name to Anna Skau-ace-er and was adopted by Cora West after her parents died (age 12) She married John J Barr from MO and bore 4 children; Lawrence, Theodore, Claudia and Kenneth. After JJ Barr died, she remarried Elwood Scott. They are buried in the Rock Spring Indian Cemetary in Anadarko Oklahoma. My morther-in-law is Shirley Barr Simmons McDaniel, daughter of Theordore Barr. My husband is her son, Stephen Simmons. I have been working on their family tree. Exum Scott was the brother of my 4th Great-Grandfather Abraham. They settled in Wake and Cumberland county area of North Carolina via Henrico County VA then Halifax County NC. I think that Exum and/or some of his descendants migrated and established a community in South Carolina. I remember my Dad always talking about relatives in SC. He attended a funeral there in the '90's, but I haven't been able to find the obit as to whom. Seem to be around the Bennettsville area

In my research, I have found that the Scott's were freedmen from Herico County VA. They migrated throughout the states that you mentioned. I'm a descentant of Francis Scott(male.) They settled into what was then Halifax, Edgecombe, Northhampton Counties of NC. My 3rd Great-Grandfather settled into Wake County NC. From my research the Scott's are a mixture of African, Caucasian, and Native American. A large contingent established their own communities in South Carolina and many migrated into the Florida.

I would love to connect with other Scott's and compare Family Trees to see our common bonds.

My grandfather was born Charles Smith Murison (illegitmate) in 1899 in Midmar Parish Aberdeenshire and his father is not named. Smith was his middle given name. At some stage prior to his marriage in 1934 he had reverted to calling himself Charles Smith.

His mother was born Maggie Ann Kidd Murison (illegitmate) in 1880 in Cluny, Aberdeenshire, mother Elizabeth Murison, father not named. Elizabeth later married James Drysdale McDonald and together thay had 11 children.

Maggie Ann Kidd Murison later married John Scott, forestry worker. I am trying to discover whether John and Maggie had any children together.

Minister Walker was born July 13, 1967, in Montgomery, Alabama a daughter of Willie J. and Lillian Adams Scott.

She was a 1985 graduate of East High School and received her certification as a surgical technician from Choffin Career Center.
She was employed as a surgical technician at St. Elizabeth Health Center-Youngstown for 13 years and as a teacher with National College.

Yvette was a member of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as Associate Minister and a member of its Mission Ministry.
She enjoyed shopping and reading. She loved people, being with her family.

She leaves to forever cherish her memory, her mother, Lillian Storey; two children, Shamir Walker and Brian Walker, all of Youngstown; seven sisters, Yvonne Bradley Scott, Adrieanne (Bre) Boudrey, Barbara (Frederick) Shelton and Sheneequa Storey, all of Youngstown, Ohio, Sophia (Greg) Davis of Georgia, Marcia Turnage of Virginia and Chiffon Scott of New York; two brothers, Lamar (Doreatha) Ellis of Maryland and Robert Scott of Youngstown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willie J. Scott and stepfather, Melvin Storey.

Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.

John Scott & Minnie Clegg - New Zealand & Australia

John SCOTT Born 1857, Belfast, Northern Ireland. Died September 16 1921, “Hollywood”, 91 New North Road, Kingsland, Auckland, New Zealand. Married July 2 1887 in the Wesleyan Church, Pitt Street, Auckland, New Zealand; Minnie CLEGG (b. March 28 1869 in Addington, Christchurch, New Zealand. d. Aug 14 1921 in the Auckland Hospital), and had nine children.

Child number 6 was a son, also named John Scott, born October 3 1900. This John appears in NZ Electoral Rolls up until 1928 (as a linotype operator). It is thought that he may have gone to Australia.

Any descendants out there?

The descendants of John and Minnie's other children, nine of whom survived infancy, are known to some degree or another, including some also in Australia.

One of my brick walls ... my great2 grandfather is William James Scott (and I bear his surname as my middle name.) He was married twice and had rafts of children, and was a merchant. His first wife was Mary Elizabeth Dryden Scott, and his second wife was Elizabeth Catherine Boston Scott. They lived in Somerset, Maryland. His daughter, Anne Elizabeth Scott Bevans (by Mary Elizabeth) is my maternal great grandma, with her son Rev. George Esdras Bevans was my dear Grandpa. Searching for lineage of Lucinda possibly Scott born about 1815, married to Shementer Stuart mid 1830s in probably Buncombe County NC. Lucinda possibly daughter of Thomas Scott and Jane? of McDowell County, NC. Thomas listed in various censuses as early as 1830 as free person of color, then on subsequent censuses as black, and mulatto. Any help is greatly appreciated. Possible siblings of Lucinda are Allen, Stanhope, George, James, Eliza and Amos Scott. Lucinda last found in Polk County, TN in 1870 as black with children listed as white.

George Henry Scott Stroud area, Gloucestershire, UK

I am searching for the family of my husband's great grandfather george Henry Scott. He was born about 1895, possibly in or near Stroud. If he was not actually born in Stroud, he certainly grew up there. I have been unable to find any George Scotts on the 1901 census living in the right area. He had a brother called William E. Scott, (possibly William Edward born 1908 Dursley registration district) who later married a lady called Dorothy. George Henry Scott served in France in WWI and then moved to Maidenhead where he married Florence Rebecca Richens in 1920 and had 3 sons. On his marriage certificate his father's name is given as William Scott (deceased) and father's occupation was given as Collier. Sadly he died in an accident at work aged only 39 (in 1935). I would be very interestde to hear from anyone who has Scott connections in this area.

The reference that I have does not show any of these family names. In the reference work I have, the starting Scott member, John Scott, came to America around 1720 from Scotland (we think). There could be a connection but it does not show up in the manuscript record that I have seen. Keep looking and sharng details with other Scott searchers.
