Hello India. You messaged me some time back and I don't know if I got back to you. I think we match on DNA.
Craven County covered most of the northern third or more of SC. Probably 16 to 18 modern counties were included in what was known as Craven County.
The William Scott you refer to above died in Kershaw County which would have been Craven County. He originally got a land grant at White Oak Creek. I believe he may be the father of Benjamin Scott who married Mary Shaver, but not proven. I have helped a descendant of Benjamin Scott with some research and they have gotten a male to do yDNA. I had thought that William Scott of Richland County was son of this William who died 1793, but the Benjamin Scott descendant did not match the descendant of William from Richland county. This proves the two were not brothers, but I need to prove which would be son of William who died 1793.
I am trying to get a male from my line to do yDNA. I have two separate Scott lines that both lead back to George Scott who died 1790 in Fairfield County which would also have been Craven County. Most of this Scott family migrated to Mississippi-Louisiana. I match you on autosomal DNA. I am also matching descendants of Cason Scott who settled in Sumter county (which was also Craven County) and went to Mississippi then to Texas..
