My father-in-law in Buffalo, NY, was named after his paternal grandfather Paolo Sciandra from Montedoro, Sicily. Paolo had at least three children, Calogero and Salvatore emigrated to the U.S. in 1921, and Calogera remained in Montedoro. Paolo Sciandra married Filippe Provenzano.
Having worked near Pittston, PA, then later Buffalo, Calogero returned to Montedoro around 1929/1930 to marry Giuseppina Montagna, daughter Guiseppe Montagna and Filomene Campanella Montagna. Giuseppina Montagna Sciandra had four sisters. Calogero and Giuseppina married in June of 1931 and returned to Buffalo, naturalized and had one son who survived infantcy.
My father-in-law had some contact with the sisters in the Montagna family in Sicily, but apart from that, you now know just about everything I do.
I would very much welcome contact from anyone who can fill in some of the blanks and allow this branch of our family to go back another generation or two.
Thank you,
