Peter Schumacher was born 19 June 1846 in Holstein, Germany, and died 23 June 1890 in Henryville Township, Renville, Minnesota. He married MARY ANTONSEN April 1872 in Le Sueur, Minnesota, daughter of JOHN ANTONSEN and LOUISA KAHLE. She was born 02 February 1848 in Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and died 19 July 1936 in Grand Rapids, Itasca, Minnesota.
Peter arrived in the United States 4 June 1866. Peter settled in various communities of southern Minnesota and eventually in Renville County.
Married April 1872 to Mary Antonsen (born February 2, 1848 in Missouri). Children: John Peter, Fredric William, Charles Edward, Frank Henry, Anna Rosa and Otilla (Tillie).
Peter died at the age of 44, June 23, 1890. Mary died July 19, 1936, at Grand Rapids, in Itasca county, Minnesota.
Their first born, John James, born April 26, 1873 and died September 1873. We found this in a Bible at Art Schumacher's house. Art Schumacher has this Bible from his mother, Carrie Roper Schumacher. John Peter Schumacher, born September 27,1874, was given the same first name, evidently a custom in those days to preserve a family name after a child died young.
Both Peter and Mary are buried in Middle River Cemetery, Flora Township, Renville co., Minnesota.
Mary died at Grand Rapids, Itasca Co., Minnesota.
