I've been looking for a Frank Schooler. I'm not sure about too many other details, just a brother's name and that they were separated when they were younger. I have more if this is the right Frank. Or maybe he has a son named Frank as well?

I am seeking information on John Mcweldon Schooler, son of Clovis. No father
He was born 1935 in Texas and later changed his name and date of birth to Juan/Johnny Valdez
new date of birth was 1928. He married a Maria Gregoria Aguilar she was born 9 May 1934 in Bexar Texas, they married in 1972.
Possibility that he had children from different women and could have used different dates of birth.
died as far as we can tell in 1997.
My father James C Schooler always stories as a young boy about going Big Mama's house in Gloster Ms. He worked for the railroad and had an accident and lost his leg in is early 20's. He always wore a wooden leg and as a small child I didn't think anything about it, now I know it must of been quite painful. He married Grace Hoff and they moved to Rayville Louisiana. He died I believe in 1975 and his buried in Monroe Louisiana. They had 6 childreLouisiana d 4 boys, 2 girls. My father James C was the youngest. He died in Alexandria 1998 and is buried near his parents in the same Monroe Cemetary. I would really appreciate any info about where they immigrated from

My grandfather was Walton Schooler, his youngest son, from Mississppi, after reading your post I believe this must be the correct one. My father James C Schooler would speak of going to Big Mama's house in Gloster Ms where he was born, but moved with his parents to Rayville Louisiana at about the age of 7. Walton worked for the railroad and had an accident in his early years and had to have his leg amputated. Of course I only knew him with a wooden leg and as a young child, I didn't think anything about my grandfathers wooden leg, kinda of funny through a child's eyes. He was a very gentle soul and we all loved him dearly. He died around 1975 I think in Winnsboro Louisana and his buried in Monroe Lousisana. He and his wife Grace Hoff (maiden) had 6 children, 4 boys, 2 girls. My father James was the youngest son, also a very gentle but stern soul. He died in 1998. We miss him dearly and wish we knew more about his family. Perhaps you can provide more information. I am trying to find out how they got to American. I have been told they came from England

Maybe I can get it
straight now. Please look my tree over and let me know if I have you there now. Or please
give me your data to see thru a personal note. mmblincoe@att.net

Well, since I am still alive you cannot see me but; go to Aaron John Schollars b 27 Feb 1898 in
Bellamy, Vernon, Mo and follow the tree perhaps.

Re: Schooler's in America

Hello,
I have been doing research on my Schooler roots and have found your information most helpful. I believe my lineage to be:
William (1640-1728)
Thomas (1660-1748)
John (1705-1766)
Benjamin Reason (1725-1795)
Wharton (about 1750 - 1824)
Lewis (1780 - ?)
Rice (1815-1898)
Lewis Edward (1839-1913)
Benjamin Franklin (1882-1969)

I am Benjamin's granddaughter. After researching through your records, I noticed there were some questions about Wharton. From family records I have, I believe there were two Wharton's . The additional Wharton was born in 1723 and would have been "my" Wharton's uncle. If you have any additional research to support this, I would appreciate it.

Also, I have a long lost cousin who also wrote a book which I have not been able to locate. Her name was Eddie Lou Schooler Palmer and lived in Shreveport, LA. Have you ever heard of her or any book by her?

I would also be interested in a copy of your book if it is still available. Thank you so much for any information you can provide.

Laura Watkins

Oliver did indeed marry a second time to Margaret! First wife Elizabeth died in childbirth having Nellie. Margaret was my paternal grandmother's step-mother. I remember visiting with her as a child in Missouri. She was a tiny and feisty woman, keeping horses until much later in her life than anyone would usually atempt. Sylvia and Aubrey Schiebrel are my grandparents, Robert Gary Schiebrel my father. I am Cynthia Schiebrel Hatton.

Re: Old Photos

I have family disputing this point which I found on this site.

"Surlina did not have a very good life. She married a man whose family considered that he had married beneath himself. He and his sister required that their meals be served to them where they would not be distracted by the noise of the children. Surlina died fighting a prairie fire, when a neighbor discovered the body and went to notify her husband,
he found him taking a nap."

Surlina did not die in a prairie fire, nor was her husband asleep. Her only husband, James Dillard Montague, passed away well before Surlina did on March 30, 1895 and is buried at Laddonia, MO which can be verified by Cemetary records at http://files.usgwarchives.net/mo/audrain/cemeteries/laddonia... search Montague. Both Surlina and James Dillard show up int he records. I also do not live far from the cemetary and have visually verified this information.

I also have a copy of Surlina's death certificate from the state of Missouri in which she passed away at the age of 84 days 4 months and 14 days. Please view the death certificate here - http://www.sos.mo.gov/images/archives/deathcerts/1929/1929_0...

The information given previously in the post and quoted at the beginning of this one is in fact inaccurate. Surlina is my great-great grandmother Montague. I also have an Aunt who is still living and remembers Surlina very well and said she was never looked down upon by the family, she was a very beloved woman who loved everyone in return and had a bit of a wild streak. Family was most important to her and her tradition carries on to this day as we are getting ready for another family reunion.
