Not all of the descendants changed their surname to Sholl. My line kept the Scholl spelling. Even though the kept the Scholl spelling, there are some historical records related to them during the Civil War where it was misspelled as Shull or Sholl at various times. Guess people just wrote it like they thought it sounded.
