My father has done a lot of family history research, and has traced back to Hannes Schneider born in Berne Switzerland in 1534. I see in my on-line searches that a few other families have traced back to the same person.

My father plans to visit Berne in early April 2001. The tourist bureau there has given me the name and address of an office where he should be able to search birth/death records, which is:
