LAFAYETTE, IN: Ruth A. Schmunk, 92, of Lafayette, IN, formerly of Mansfield, Ohio, died Saturday, May 3, 2014.
Born December 3, 1921 in Sharpsville, PA, she was the daughter of Harry and Ethel (Dunham) Blaney.
A graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, Mansfield, Ohio
Ruth worked at Tappan's and Anesthesia Associates before retiring from Schmunk Realty.

She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, 5000 Club, Tappan Girl's Club, and a lifetime member of Chi Sigma Rho Chapter.

Ruth also volunteered for the USO during WWII, her daughter's 4-H Clubs and Girl Scout Troop, RSVP, Rehab Center, The Store, and a niece's Brinkerhoff kindergarten classroom.
In her free time, she loved to sew, enjoyed playing bingo, going on bus trips, and attending various activities at the Lexington Senior Center.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Ryan of Newark, Ohio, Sandra (Mark) Sweval of Lafayette, IN, and Linda (Steve) VanDine of Hoffman Estates, IL; grandchildren, Lindsey (Colin) Leonard of Anderson, SC and Jevin Sweval of Lafayette, IN; a niece and her family, Cindy and Dave Metzger, Jason and Stephanie Metzger, and Melissa (Matt) Cash; sister-in-law, Mildred Blaney; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Schmunk; son, David Schmunk; daughter, Patricia Schmunk; brother, Burdell Blaney; and sisters, Wilma Sites and Marian Morrow.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be held in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Adario United Methodist Church or your local Girl Scout Council.
