I am looking for information on John Schmidt of Spiesen Neunkirchen Saarland Germany, b abt 1855. He and his wife Mary (Schirra? or Schar?), b sabt 1856, and their infant son Robert John, b abt 1880, immigrated to the US about 1882. John and Mary settled in Stark Co Ohio and were members of St Marys Catholic Church. They had 6 more children, all born in Ohio, and had at least one child that died in infancy but I do not know the location of the birth. Some of these children changed their names to SMITH (sons John and Charles) . Marys death certificate from 1911 lists her father as Frank (Schirra? or Schar?) and her mother as Magdaline Boslet. Robert John Schmidt is my great grandfather. Id really like to learn more about this family.
