I am looking for any information on August Schmidt. My father was born
to August Schmidt on August 2, 1925 as John Joseph Schmidt but had
changed his name to John Joseph Smith when joining the Navy in 1942.
August left the family and re-married while my father was raised by his
grandparents (William Mary Lewis).
