Longtime County Resident Dies Here Today

)
Mrs Dora Schaaf, 93, of 207 Fourteenth Street, a longtime Cass County resident, died at 1:15 this morning at the Atlantic Memorial hospital, to which she was admitted late Friday.
Born in Lake Hanover, Germany, Sept. 11 1872, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Rathkamp, she came to the United States with her parents Dec. 8, 1891, locating at Cumberland. She was married to Henry [J.] Schaaf in Des Moines Feb. 21, 1895 and with the exception of several years spent in Page county, had lived in Cass county since. Mr Schaaf died June 11, 1927. She was a member of the United Church of Christ.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs Ella Sunderman and Mrs. Leona Auerbach of Atlantic; two sons, Herman Schaaf of Cumberland and Louie Schaaf of Atlantic; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Louise Sunderman, Oct. 25, 1964 and four children who died in infancy. Several brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Lyman, the Rev. Norman E. Miller officiating. The family will meet relatives and friends from 7:30 to 9 Sunday evening at the Roland funeral home. Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery.

Notes: I have no idea where Lake is in Hanover; perhaps Lake indicates the region of Maschsee Lake in Hanover. I appreciate corrections and additional information. 11mitchell@mchsi.com
