WADSWORTH -- Carl E. Schaad, 87, Wadsworth, Ohio died Friday Aug. 6, 2010.
He was born Aug. 30, 1922, in Burbank to the late C. Elmer and Mildred (nee Brown) Schaad.
Mr. Schaad was a proud World War II veteran, having served with the 332nd Engineer Regiment in the European Theater and was a member of the World War II-Korean War Roundtable.

He was a founding member of the Burbank Volunteer Fire Department and served as the very first chief.
Carl served as postmaster in Burbank until his retirement in 1978. He has an outgoing, friendly man who always had a story to tell the residents of Burbank when they came into his post office to pick up mail.
He never met a stranger. After retirement he and his wife, Mary Lou, moved to Florida but returned to Ohio after several years to be closer to family.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn A. Daniels; and his childhood friend, Vernon Wright.
Carl is survived by his devoted wife of 64-plus years, Mary Lou (Fioriti); children, Linda (Jack) Mazur, Barry (Sue) Schaad and Carla (John) Kachmar; grandchildren, Clark Wilson, Monica (Erik) Ristau, Matthew Mazur, Josh (Beth) Schaad and Lisa Schaad; and great-grandchildren, Allison Ristau, Zachary Ristau, Alex Schaad, Jessica Schaad and Roman Mahlerwein.
He is also survived by all of the Thursday night Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital diners and his neighbors in Wadsworth, who have been there to watch over him and Mary Lou.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
His love of family will live on in Linda, his love of a good story in Barry, his love of golf in Carla and his love for Mary Lou in all those who know her.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, where a memorial service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Melvin Browning officiating.
