The book being referred to is "The Descendants of Samuel Scarborough Sr of North Carolina, 1788-1988" edited by Nannie Rogers Badders, published in Raleigh, NC in 1989. The book was actually a family endeavour with a large group of relatives coming together to make the book. It is a large book (390 pages) with lots of info and photos. I have only be able to locate the book in two libraries; the city library of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and the North Carolina Archives and State Library in Raleigh, NC. I have been trying to purchase the book for a couple of years now, without success. It is no longer in print. I was actually in Raleigh last week for six days and saw the book at the State Archives( I live in Texas ) I can tell you that John Wesley Scarborough (1764-1850) was my GGG Grandfather, and he was indeed the son of Samuel Scarborough (c1730-1804). John Wesley Scarborough was the brother of Samuel Scarborough (first Jr, then Sr after his father died) (1760-1841). Both Samuels and John Wesley died in Wake County. However, I can also tell you with certainty that John Wesley Scarborough did not have a son named Thomas H Scarborough. I have about 5600 people in my database, and I'm sorry to say that I am not familiar with a John H Scarborough, although he was undoubtedly in Wake County. I checked the Scarborough book also, and he nor his wife, nor children you listed, are listed in the book...again, doesn't mean that they weren't there; they are just not listed. I have read and studied the entire book, and I can tell you that it is about 90-95% accurate, but not without errors and omissions. It was gathered from many sources, with the original manuscript ( I have read that also ) being hand typed in the late 1980's, and typos were made. Nothing intentional, but it does contain some errors. I'm sure your Thomas H is related; I just can't tell you how without some further research. There is actually quite a bit of info and research done on the Wake County Scarboroughs and available on the internet; they were a large presence in Wake County, and many of their descendants still live there.

If you would like to contact me at LSCARBO@SUDDENLINK.NET I can explain a little more and perhaps answer some questions.

Regards
Larry Scarborough
