My grandmother was a scantlin Effie Faye she changed it to Faye, Her parents were Clyde and Bessie Scantlin and the live in Farmersville Calif. My grand mother and her dad are buried in farmersville Calif. My Mom is buried there all so she was killed in a car wreck in Bakersfield. We were in Bakersfield for a couple of years.MY great grand mother moved to southern calif when her husband died and she is buried there. I have pictures of the head stones of all of them but my grt grand momther Bessie. From what I remember I didn't have family in Bakersfield but will check it out. Have a lot of family in southern Calif, trying to get a family reunion put together up there. I live in Visalia Cal. Reuel stevens

There were a lot of scantlins in OK haven't found any in TX. MOst of the scantlins were in OK, Miss, Kanksa,Ark. MY great grande parents were Clyde & Bessie Scantlins. Some Scantlins used the last name Slavens. my great grand parents claude were James Joseph and Rose Emma Scantlin..There was a Roy Orville Scantlin born in Ark. on oct.20,1893. but I couldn't find a Clara Scantlins. Most of my family was born Ark. Need anymore questions will try to help. My side of scantlins were in calif in Farmersville Cal.My great grand mothere is down south in calif. but rest are in farmersville calif. Hope this inforamation will help if not let me know sorry it took so long. reuel stevens

My Grandfather was Claud Scantlin, brother to your Roy B Scantlin. Which one of the boys is your husband ??? I knew them when they lived in Bakersfield. We used to go there all the time to visit them. My mom was Velma Imojane Scantlin, Claud's oldest daughter. I am her youngest daughter, Susie. I have 2 older sisters, Claudine and Sandy. Your husband may remember us.
Claud and his wife Blondie died in 1977, just 15 days apart. My mom passed away 4 1/2 years ago and Dad passed away 2 years ago. I used to write to Aunt Clara Belle all the time. She was a very sweet person. The last letter I got from her was when Uncle Roy died. It was a heartbreaking letter.
Well, I hope you get this and we can correspond with each other.

I let Mike stay with me for a while. We had some fun. We listened to music and danced and played around, but he's working on his issues.

As far as I know he's in the Snohomish County Jail.

I just saw your post from 2010. Herbert is a huge enigma in our history. I would really love to learn about the Jellison family and, if you are conversant, anything about the Scantlins. From what I can tell, Herbert wasn't the most upstanding fellow but, now that my mother has passed, no one will be hurt if we learn more about him. Herbert Edward is son of John M Scantlin and my aunt, Hattie Elizabeth Jellison.
I do not know the parents of John M Scantlin but he and my
aunt are buried in Oak Shade cemetery, Marion, Linn Co, IA.
I have a number of records from the newspaper but could not find the obituary of John M Scantlin.

I have "Effie Fay Scantlin" born Nov 7, 1910, daughter of Clyde Gilford Scantlin (born on Oct 16, 1886, Died on July 30, 1960) and Bessie A. Phillips married on Dec 17, 1905. I also have four brothers and two sisters listed with some birthdays. I hope this will be helpful.

I have been researching James Joseph Scantlin and found him in Jasper Co, Mo census in 1860. In his household is a Sarah Coffee. Could this be the same Sarah? I don't have James' fathers name yet.

Hi - you are Mary Scantlen are kin to my husband - and you all share the same great-grandfather...Arthur Scantlen.

Benjamin J. Scantlin was born 9/25/1885 - Benjamin F. only lived about 7 months.

The great-great grandparents were Felix Scantlen and Mary Catherine Traxler. Felix was born 8/15/1847 in Montreal Canada. He died on 12/18/1926 in Defiance, OH. He immigrated to the US in 1865.

He was a farmer and spoke french. He may have died on Prostate Cancer.

I have a Benjamin F. Scantlen in my husband's family. The parents were Felix Scantlen b 1847 and d 1926 and Mary Catherine Traxler, b. 1850 d 1935.

I don't have much info on Benjamin - but have his listed birthdate as 2/13/1882 - but (and this may be an error) a death date of 11/13/1882 - which would make no sense.

Anyway - let me know if you think this might fit.

You didn't mention in which state this cemetery is located. I am looking for the OK cemetary, or TX. My husband's father is Roy Burton Scantlin, born Feb, 1909 in Belcherville, TX, then moved to Ardmore/Lone Grove, OK, then to Fillmore, CA, then to Bakersfield, CA, then to Brookings, OR where he is buried.His brothers were Dewey, Claude, Louie, sisters Ora and Maggie. Their father was James Canada Scantlin, wife Jane. We were told James C.'s dad came directly from Ireland. Any info would be appreciated.

Clyde Scantlin is my Great Gradfather and he was married to Bessie Scantlin. He is buried in California in Tulare county. The cemetary in Exeter. His daughter Effie Fay Scantlin was my grand mother. Any informatin about my grandmother would be helpful. She told me her name was Effie Fay, but she always went by Fay.

I think my Greatgrand father was brothers to Leo. My greatgrandfather name was Clyde Scantlin. He was married to Bessie Alberta Phillips and they had 5 children. My grandmother was Effie Fay Scantlin , I think she went by Fay Scantlin. They moved to Calif. My great grand father was born in 10-16-1886. He died in Tulare Countyon 7-30-1996 he is buried in Exeter Cali. Any information you have would be helpful. I have a picture of my greatgrand father is you would like a copy.

I have looked through the Perrett list archives from January 2008 till your message in December 2009 and cannot find a Michael Scanlin/Marsack. It might be a good idea for you to go through the archives, you can access them from the rootsweb home page, under "mailing lists", "browse archives" and choose "Perrett". If Michael used a pseudonym, then you might recognise him from the information posted.

My great grandmother was a Scantlen. She was born in Arkansas. The family moved to Oklahoma where she married my great grandfather. Round about the 30s they moved to California.....Bakersfield, California. Don't have anything on a Roy Burton Scantlen. You said he was born 1909, what was his father's name? Do you know his grandfather's name as well?
