NORTH LIMA – Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday at the Wasko Funeral Home and at 12:30 p.m. at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Campbell, Ohio for Fidelmina Romanzi Scacchetti, 91, who passed away after a long and full life on Aug. 28, 2011, at her daughter’s home in North Lima, Ohio.
Fidelmina was born in Roccagorga, Italy on Feb. 29, 1920, the daughter of Francesco and Fortunata Romanzi.
She and her husband, Frank Scacchetti, were married in 1937.
Fidelmina arrived in the United States in 1956 with her three daughters, joining her husband who came in 1954.
They resided in Campbell from 1956 to 1978, where she was employed by Moyer’s for 20 years.
She was also a member of St. Lucy’s in Campbell, Ohio.
After her husband retired, Fidelmina and Frank moved to Santa Ana, Calif., where they resided until 1995. After living in California, they relocated to northern Georgia.
Fidelmina was a loving wife and mother, an avid cook and enjoyed knitting.
Fidelmina was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; and her four brothers of Italy.
She is survived by one sister, and her daughters, Caroline (Rudolph) Kogelnik of North Lima, Maria (Dennis) Sell of Texas, and Patricia (Richard) Smith of Georgia.
Fidelmina also leaves behind seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, both in Ohio and Italy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mary Crowley Cancer Research Centers, a cause that was important to Fidelmina.
The Scacchetti family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. to noon.
