Steve,
I guess we will keep searching for that hidden fortune.

Actually it's just nice to hear from another Scaccalossi since we haven't found too many. My father has put some time into family history and the main goal for us is just to learn a little bit about the past and that's it. Since my grandfather died before my time a lot of the past is a mystery to me: and being naive about the past makes the tasks at hand easier.

My grandfather Armano Luigi Scaccalossi was born in a town called Previde near Pontremoli in Northern Tuscany- Not sure when he came over here- maybe 1920?- My dad- Armond probably knows. Anyway he came to San Francisco via New York and as you can see the name was changed for our Family to Scaccalosi somewhere during the nationalization process. I'm assuming the right spelling on his name was the least of my grandfather's concerns: Unlike now where immigrants probably get a bonus check as they come over.

We have visted the town of Previde and have seen records at the Ufficio Autragrafia (sp) that shows a long line of the Scaccalossi name in that area. In fact we saw a document that went back to the 1200's- it was in Latin and the Scaccalossi name was included in the contents. When we were there we searched for the castle and noble past but only found a tiny paese void of people and modern improvements. We met a couple of Scaccalossi's..Sorry to say our limited comprehension of the language put restrictions on what we could find out. None the less, the town was located in a beatiful mountain valley the few residents couldn't have been nicer. That was a success for us. Is Rivigi is near there? and have you visited.

Thanks for the response and the opportunity to bore you- Good luck to you. Stay in touch if you would like. Anything you could offer would be appreciated and let us know if there is anything you would like to know from us.
