Hi Lynda
Yes, I was talking about Sydney, Australia but I am still interested to hear about the Roseto festival celebrations in PA.
Re the Sbrocchi surname: there are still quite a few Sbrocchis' in Roseto RV, also some in PA and other parts of the USA and Canada. I can now trace my line back 5 generations, but only a few years back we had no notion of any other Sbrocchi's in the world. There are several Rosetan families in Sydney, some of which are also Sbrocchi descendants.
There is one line of research, carried out by Mons Giuseppe Sbrocchi, Prof Leonardo Sbrocchi and Rev Don Romolo Sbrocchi, that believes we originally came from Germany way back in the year 1200 when Germany was at war with Italy and a German General Sbrocchi stayed on in Italy after the war was over. All very interesting. Does you father know anything about this line for thought?
Ciao
Kerynne

Hi Karryne. The Sbrocchi surname is on my maternal side of the family. My maternal grandfather Luigi Lanza's father and mother were Giuseppe Lanza (buried in Roseto, Pa) and Maria Grazia Sbrocchi - who never got to America. Her husband passed away in the U.S. before she got to come over - so she remained in Roseto Valfortore, Italy. My Lanza branch is mainly in Ontario, Canada I believe - and I don't know of any Sbrocchi's other than my great grandmother's name. I am in the middle though of searching LDS to see if I can pinpoint who her parents were. If I find this out - I'll get back to you to see if we have a connection.

HI again Kerry:

I just read this old post hope you can reply. I spoke with you in September about my moving to Perth with my Family in the near future.

Are you in any way related to Mons. Sbrocchi?? The Mons. that lived here in Toronto Canada? His sister is my mom's godmother. She is still living around my mom's here in Toronto, and they meet every sunday at church. The family is good friends with my mom and my dad (he passed away this last july 19, 2007).

Thanks and hope you can reply.

Maria

ps: cant believe it, my husband brought back a kangaroo skin!! I didn't think they were so soft!!

by the way, I'm going to ask Sig. Sbrocchi about this idea of the German heritage. If the Mons. did this research, then she would know about it.

take care and have a good day

Hi All,

The admin staff on this site is in an uproar and forcing me to move ALL posts that don't apply to the name ROSETO out. So I'm forced to move this thread to the SBROCCHI surname board.
