I am afraid that I am new in this game. Is there anywhere where one can see the "family tree" so to speak? My family emigrated to Toronto, Canada from Roseto.
Dad - Filippo Sbrocchi
Mom - Maria Michelina Sbrocchi
I have now moved to Stockholm, Sweden.

I have my father's old baby book. His grandfather was Joseph Sbrocchi, born in Roseto Volfortore. We are guessing in the late 1890's, early 1900's. His parents are Mary De Frank and Filippo Sbrocchi. Joseph came to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia and married Emma Anderson. Is there any chance my great Grandfather, Joseph, is from the same family you are tracing?

Hello Vicki,
I'm not sure if Lucy will respond if this is the same person I think it is. I have two databases with Sbrocchi in them; I'm not sure if there would be connections to my ancestry but there could be something with people I'm helping in Australia.
First, are you sure the name Mary DeFrank isn't DeFranco? I have DeFranco and that would be logical Italian spelling. Also, you first state that Joseph (Giuseppe?) was your father's grandfather, then you state at the end that he was your grandfather; that needs to be clarified.
I can send information to you directly through email if you prefer. My email: falconep@yahoo.com. I'll paste 3 generations of my ancestors here for you to look at in the meantime:

My great grandfather Joe

Thank you for responding...I will be emailing you on this exciting news as well.

This is my first attempt at finding family. My Grandmother has recently moved to a retirement home, and has the beginning signs of Alzheimers. She never knew much about her father's family, as he rarely spoke about his past. The names I gave, were names I found in my fathers baby book, that Grandma had saved all these years. It is likely, as you say, that Mary DeFrank is Mary DeFranco.

All I was ever told about my great Grandfather Joseph Sbrocchi, was that he moved to New Glascow, Nova Scotia, from the United States..it was said that he was from the Chicago area. I'm not sure if there is more fancy than fact in this though, as he arrived in Nova Scotia during the end of the Al Capone era.

My grandmother keeps talking about how her father was going to take her home to Italy, until she got mixed up with my grandfather, and married instead. In pursuing this conversation with Grandma about my family history, I learned that she never knew her own aunts and uncles, if there were any, or her grandparents. And I'd like to know if there is a family out there for me and my sister as well. We are the last of our family here, and I am so excited to have gotten lucky enough to trace our family here! My Grandmother will be so happy too!

Thank you for responding, Phil...again. I will send an email!

I am trying to find some info on the meaning & origin of the
Sbrocchi surname.
My mother Filomena Sbrocchi, daughter of Filipo & Maria Sbrocchi (nee D'avansa) emigrated to the UK, circa 1953, whilst the rest of her family emigrated to Canada.
I would be most grateful of any help in completing my task.
