So her name was Marie Sbertoli, changed to Heine through marriage. She had a accidential death at the pizza place. Question, did she own the saloon when it was a saloon? Oh boy! You know, there is something very special about the name Sbertoli. I feel something is unique but just don't know the story about it. My aunt was named Marie Corsiglia but she was a Sbertoli and she died at 97 just couple years ago too. She did research in Italy. Said that we were from Villa Noche and that we , our ancestors came from France and Germany. But settled also in Genoa. Now I know the name has meaning and from a prof at a Univ. he told me that it meant little expert. He also said that the S before Sbertoli meant senator. That after Rome fell, the senators placed an S before their names. He said also that the name was Bertollus before or Senator Bertollus. After the fall the name then changed to Sbertoli, changing the ending, (lus) dropping it and adding an (i) to the end. My sister Mary went to Bella Noche. They looked for the Sbertoli lineage there. Only one person left. It is very quaint and countryish. They asked to meet this man, forgot his name, and was told he was not there but would give him a call. Shortly they saw a very big man, who looked like one of Marie Corsiglia's sons, walking toward them with a cane. They talked for a few minutes and he asked them to go to lunch. He took them to a place very close by and it looked like a garage door. When it opened, inside was a the most beautiful restaurant imaginable. The woman was doing something in the field guess she was the cook. She came in and began cooking. Almost everything was made from home grown products. This woman cooked everything, cleaned it up after then went back to the field. The graveyard was full of stoneheads with the name of Sbertoli on them and this man my sister met was the last Sbertoli there in Bella Noche. He told my sister that the ancestors came from Germany and settled there long time ago. My Aunt Marie, when she went to Genoa, found Sbertoli's and she said that the ancestor was a prof of math that migrated to USA with 5 sons. He didn't know the English language though and had to take remedial jobs. Ended up owning part of a produce house. He had a fishing thing in Genoa before he came to USA. I have some pictures of my fathers' mother, she was very beautiful. None of my fathers' father unfortunately. Just am always seeking out the inner part of me that wonders about the name Sbertoli. How about you? Maureen
