My Great Grandfather was supposidly from Sant' Agata, Sicily. His name was Samual Sberna and he married Frances Farone. They children one whom is Mary Sberna. Mary was born in 1910 and is still living. She had a sister Bertha and brothers Joseph, Santo, Samuael and more. If this is your Sberna family please contact me.

The SBERNA and SBERNAI surname is of French origin, but it derivated of the old "Celtic" or gaulish word VERNA/BERNA. Verna/e mean "alder tree". It is a toponimic name in Italy, France and Spain.

Any, Im Jean Paul Sberna from Spain.

The SBERNA last name is French or celtic. This word derivated of the verne (b) or vernay word. The word is in Sicily and the north of Italy because it become from Provencal zone in France. Sberna was used in some dialect.
