Hi Courtney,
I will try to scan the documents I have from Aunt Patty and get them to you. There is a lot of information. Maybe you already have it. I will post the main thread as a general response. From what I understand, Matthias Sazama was our great great grandfather and was from Bohemia, and at that time it was part of the Austrian Empire. His father's name was George, and he was from Bohemia, Austria. That is all we know about his Matthias' father and mother. Matthais was born in Neugetein Bohemia, then part of Austria, but which is now Kdyne, Czech Republic (here in Wikipedia) "Kdyně (Czech pronunciation: [ˈɡdɪɲɛ]; German: Neu Gedein) is a town in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. It lies some 60 km (37 mi) to the South-West from the region capital of Plzeň." That seems to be confirmed in the documents saying he was born in the documents stating he was from the Pocinovice Bohemia. He emigrated to America through Bremen, Germany and was married to Marie Koskuba Sazama. They came and settled in Turners Falls Massachusetts.
Matthias was our great-great grandfather, his son Frank Philip Sazama is our great grandfather who came to Turners Falls at the age of 29 years (I think) along with his parents and brothers and sisters. Matthias had 11 children with his first wife Marie Koskuba Sazama and one child with his second wife Philomene Koskuba Sazama (Marie's sister). His son Frank Philip and his wife Josephine Anne Novy were born in Prague. Our grandfather, Frances was born in Turners Falls Mass. and had two sisters. OK, that is all I can understand right now.
