He left a nice set of estate papers in Columbia County GA. I'm researching his daughter Rebecca who married Timothy T. Barham. Would like to exchange information.
Jeremiah Savage

Hi

I wonder if anyone else is researching Jeremiah Savage who is my 5 x great grandfather or whether anyone has any ideas that may help me. I've been unable to find his birth (or that of any Jeremiah Savages born around the same time) so any help would be very much appreciated.

Here's what I know.

He was born circa 1755 (if burial record is accurate)
Married Elizabeth Dingley in 1794 in Barston, Warwickshire. Both were of that parish however given that one only had to be resident for a few weeks, that doesn't mean a lot. I've been unable to find any Savage baptisms prior to this marriage so assume that he was not from Barston.
It's possible that he was previously married in 1781 to a Mary Webb in Harbury,Warwick however as this isn't that close to Barston, I'm not sure. There are a couple of potential Warwickshire deaths for a Mary Savage between 1781-1794. Difficult to prove anything with this though.

I have wondered whether he was from further a field - Ireland for example, but no idea how I could prove this as don't think there are records of Irish crossings to England?
Thanks in advance

Emma
Edward H Savage New York to Michigan

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about the parents of my 3rd Great Grandfather: Edward H Savage.

Here is what I know:

He was born around 1826 in New York.

Sometime before 1850 he married a Caroline A. ?

The 1850 Census shows him (aged 24) and Caroline (aged 21) living in Grand Blanc, Genesee County MI with a family that had the last name of Watrous.
The Watrous family was: Gurdon (48), Sally (44), Sarah (19), Laura (14), George (8). The census shows they were also from New York. (I don't know for sure but it seems possible that these people are Caroline's family?)

1860: Caroline passed away before the census was taken.

The 1860 census shows Edward living alone on his property in Mundy township, Genesee County MI.

In 1861 Edward married Deborah Hill, daughter of Darius G Hill and Wealthy (Blodgett) Hill.

1862: Carrie A Savage was born
1868: Maggie J Savage was born
1868: Maggie J Savage passed away

The 1870 census shows Edward, Deborah and Carrie living on the farm in Mundy.

8 Jul 1875: Edward passed away from Consumption. He is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc.

Any information on his parents or otherwise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark Martin

It does sound a lot like him.
He moved to Amsterdam in his early 20's that's where he met my mother and they eventually went on to have me and my sister, he settled there until about 6 years ago when he moved back to Bristol due to becoming very ill, But unfortunately he passed away on the 3rd of may 2012 in Bristol Royal infirmary after a long battle with his illness. https://www.thisisannouncements.co.uk/16588962 is the link for his online Obituary page, your husband may recognise him from the photos, i hope this helps in your search.

This could be the right person. I am searching for him on behalf of my husband, Martin Wilshire, who was a good friend to him while growing up. He said he remembered that the Roy Savage he knew was a bit of a risk taker, and that he had lost track of him after 1978. Maybe your father recognizes this name.
Any info of connections regarding this large family, greatly appreciated. My dad was Dr. Philip Savage Brezina (1914-1999)

Re: Lottie Savage

Did Lottie Savage ever live in Norfolk, VA?

Lottie Savage of Norfolk, VA--Informant on Joseph Henry Savage's death certificate in Edgecombe County, NC. Joseph died 5 Dec 1927. It does not list the relationship to informant, but he was widowed since 1911. Joseph and wife Gertrude had 4 kids.

I see several interesting things here and maybe you can add more light. 1)Your Lottie named her son Phillip "Henry" Savage---"Henry" and Thomas were middle names that trace thru the family line. 2)You mentioned Phillip's siblings---I see 2 are named Dorthy and Jean----which are also in my family of Joseph Henry Savage. One of Joseph Henry Savage's son (Edward Thomas Savage b.1907 d.1959) has twins Jean & Betsey, Dorothy, Joseph Henry and Roy Thomas Savage.

Again, this seems a little odd....but maybe your Phillip and Lottie Savage are related to my Joseph Henry Savage.

You can email me directly: Savage5@fuse.net

Sherri Savage
Savages from Portaferry/County Down Ireland

Hello. I am looking for any information on the Savage family from Portaferry/County Down Ireland. My 3rd great-grandfather is William Savage, born between 1809 and 1811. He had four children, Elizabeth, William, Thomas and Samuel. I believe William and his family left Ireland for Scotland in the mid to late 1840s. Elizabeth Savage stayed behind in Portaferry and married William Espie, a sailor that died at sea in 1865. I like to find any information possible. I have a lot of information on William's descendents that I can share as well. Thanks!!!

Lands (9000 acres) came from Chief Demedevan as a gift to Thomas SAVAGE who had lived among them (after leaving the great Powhattan- (Pocahontas's father). The story goes that the chief and Thomas had a foot race and the "laughing king" was so amused that this white boy won, that he gifted him with the lands. Thomas had come over as a laborer and was now a gentleman. Thomas's talent was in accepting, respecting his Indian family/friends.He was known to be fair to them in all his interpreting duties.
Hope this gets to you. James Savage was the youngest of the Savage brothers that arrive New Brunwick (then Nova Scotia) in 1827. That is the date of entry in "The History of Melrose" compiled/written by a relative around 1900, Monsignor Edward Savage. I am a decendant of oldest brother Denis. The record says 3 (youngest) brothers, Maurice, William and James 'went west" for Clark County, Illinois in 1829. That is just over the line from Terra Haute, Indiana.
