She was the daughter of James and Jerusha (Moore) Smith. John and Sarah had a daughter Abby Saunders, b. abt 1860, Mariaville, ME, d. 1 DEC 1886, Aurora, ME, m. George R Crosby. In the 1850 Census, John and Sarah are living in Aurora, ME in the household of Lewis and Mary (Smith) Silsby [Sarah's sister and brother-in-law]. In 1860 and 1870 Censuses, they also appear in Aurora, ME.
