I am the granddaughter of Carrie Chitty who was Harve
Sansing's only daughter. Mary Ann Francis Hendricks was the daughter of Eliza Jane Fish Hindricks and Dennis Hendricks, she was 3/4 Cherokee. I was told that Harve Sansing was born at Park Hill IT now known as Oklahoma and that his mother was French and came from New Orleans, La. I don't know how much about Harve
Sansing is true but I know on Mary Ann's side is correct. I also have a picture of him with his second wife.

Emeline probably died between 1870 and 1880, but Green Cochran (age 52) and Emeline (Age 50) were on the 1870 census in Alabama. Green H. Cochran, age 62, was on the Gonzales TX 1880 census without Emeline, so I wondered if she died in Alabama.

I would be glad to tell you more about the James Sansing family and continue the discussion off line if you will write to me.

It is possible that Emeline Sansing who married Green H. Cochran in Alabama was a daughter of James Sanders Sansing, but we have no proof. Did she die in Al or TX?

1820 Rutherford Co., NC Census included James Sansing and family. James died about 1829 in Al; no Will, no Bible records found. Several daughters with Elenor on the 1830 Tuscaloosa Co., AL Census. Four of James' sons named daughters, Emeline. That's not proof either, but she may have been a popular sister.

For those interested, there has been a Saintsing Surname DNA project added to Family Tree DNA. This also includes the various spellings; Sansing, Sensing, Sencing, Sinsing, and Sansenick. It is believed that this family is of German origin.

In the 18th century there these surnames appear in primary documents in Pennsylvania, in Surry County, VA, and North Carolina. The Virginia and North Carolina branches are related and descend from James and Margaret Saintsing.

Any males carrying the surnames listed above are encouraged to participate. As a point of interest, 25 marker tests and above yeild better results when trying to determine kinship via dna.

The link to the Saintsing family tree dna page is;

http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Saintsing...

Lyle

Glad to hear from you. There are several Parks W. Sansing in the Sansing family. Do you know which branch of the family Parks Washington Sansing came from? Was he a descandent of Charles Sansing and Mary/Mae?

I have a Parks Walter Sansing b. 22 May 1841, GA; d. 1 May 1919 in Neshoba Co., MS; bur. County Line Cemetery, Union, Neshoba Co., MS; m. Mary Emily Daniels ca. 1869. They have a son named William Alvin Sansing. Could this be your line. I do not have anymore information other than siblings of William Alving. Would love to exchange information.

You said that you live in Forest Hill, Rapides Parish. Lots of Sansings - Atkins lived in Claiborne Parish. My line came from Mississippi into Carroll Parish and then up into Ashley-Chicot County, Arkansas.

Did you get an e-mail from Bill Crews? He related: Alvin Lucius Sansing, b. 1884 Union, MS (Town or County??) d. 1941 Atlanta,GA. Alvin m. Beatrice Lucille Crews, b. Bernice, Union Parish, La 1892, d. 1923, Atlanta, GA [my Aunt]. Do not know how this fits because I do not have any information other than names on Parks W.'s children. Can you fill in the blanks? Thanks, Rita

Yes, I am very interested in your information. There is a group of Sansing descendants who want to document as much information we can on our Sansing family. There are many Sansing descendants in the US but we are not as many as common names like Smith and Jones. And many of the Sansing had the same name or similar names. When you see records that say Park W., and they live in or near the same location, around the same time, it is hard to get it right without help from the direct descendants.

My address is Rita Wallace, 13 Millstone Court, Cold Spring, KY 41076.

My family comes from the southwest corner of Arkansas. They moved across Mississippi and settled in Ashley & Chicot Counties. My grandfather's only brother lived across the Mississippi River at Greenville, MS. I have never been able to find the resting place of my gggrandfather or gggrandmother after the Civil War. The mother [Ann (Hopkins)Squires, widow of Coleman Squires and daughter of John Tompkins of Edgewood, SC] of my gggrandmother died in Texas. They just dropped off the grid leaving my ggrandfather with an Aunt in Carroll Parish, LA. Maybe when I retire I will have the time to go to Mississippi and locate them. They were Albert Hollins & Araminta (Squires) Sansing.

Thanks for sending the information. I am working on a Sansing genealogical chart to put up on the web so that more Sansing's can make connections, correct my information, etc. If you are interested, I will send you the URL when it is up.

Rita

I know you postws this some 9 years ago but I just found it. My 2nd Great Grand Aunt is Mary Ann Gipson, Emma Elizabeth Sansing's mother. I have a great deal of information on the Sansings but need more, specifaclly on any direct descendants of Francis M. Sansing and Mary Ann Gipson's children. We are having a very large Gipson family reunion in Terrell, Texas next year and I am trying to contact as many Gipson descendants as possible to send the invitation to. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. I can also send you to my tree for all Sansing info I have.

secfiddle@yahoo.com

Hi,
I have seen the name Mary Ann F. Hendricks on the Dawes Rolls. Those are the census reports for Native Americans that was taken by the us army. She is listed in connection with David Hendricks and my Martha Hendricks. Some census they are listed as Indian others Mulatto or even Black. I believe this to be my great great grandmother. In the marriage records of Rockbridge County, VA. David Hendricks and M.A. Hendricks are listed as the parents of Lucinda Hendricks who is to marry William Broughman. My grandmother Beatrice Broughman Cascie was daughter of Martha Elizabeth Hendricks. This is most likely more info than you wanted but when I start on that end of the tree I tend to babble on and on, sorry.
Phyllis

I'm trying to find information about Emeline Sansing. Born Abt 1820 in North Carolina. Married to Green H. Cochran about 1843. She was in Montegomery, Alabama with her husband and family between 1840 and 1845, then moved to Texas. Is is possible that my Emeline is one of the daughters of James Sansing?

I think that Emeline died between 1870 and 1880 in Gonzales Co., Texas. I have not found any record of her death, so this is a guess. She is listed in the 1870 US Census in Gonzales Co., Texas. By 1880 her husband Green H. Cochran married Nancy Rebecca Joyce in Gonzales Co. Green, Nancy and at least two of her children remained in Texas until their deaths.

I also think that it is possible that Green is the son of Samual Cochran and Sarah Furlow.

I have been searching for a marriage record for Green and Emeline without success. Do you have any ideas where I might find more information on James Sansing and his family? Perhaps Emeline's sibling were married in the same county or church?
Mary Ann Hendricks and Silas Davis Cartwright are my g-g-g grandparents. Their daughter Vesta Ann married Thomas Jefferson Loftiss. The line goes then from Jefferson Davis Loftiss to Dora Belle Loftiss and to my father Joseph Jefferson Roberts. Is there documentation that my Mary Ann is the same woman as Mary Ann Frances? I'd be thrilled if there were!

Dear Rita,

Sorry for the misinformation above. My grandfather, Parks Washington Sansing (B Jan5, 1886), is the 10th child of the first marriage of Parks Washington Sansing (B May22,1841) to Mary Emily Daniel (Hoy). This Parks Washington Sansing (B 1841) is the third child of Francis Sansing (B Sept5, 1816). Since they have the same name, its confusing when I read these family records. As above, I can send you these family flowsheets if you are interested.

Sincerly, William J. Sansing

Dear Rita, I finally found my grandmother's information on the Sansings. Parks Washington Sansing B.5Jan 1886 was the 10th child of Francis Sansing's first marriage to Nancy Combs. A lot of info here, so if you send your address, I can mail you all that I have on this family and 2 generations before, some of it sketchy at best. Thanks, William J. Sansing

Dear Rita,

I was surprised to see your question on this board. Parks William(Bill) Sansing was my father and we resided in Forest Hill, La. His parents are now both deceased. His father, Parks Washington Sansing died in 1952 in Forest Hill. His mother was Neona (John)Howerton Sansing and she died in 2002 the year after dad at the age of 102. She could have told you much more than I as she was very interested in geneology doing extensive research on the Rougeou's and Howerton's of Elmer Louisiana. I just mentioned to my sister how little is known of the Sansing's. I do know that I visited Union County Miss as a young boy and saw many graves in the Sansing cemetery there. I was told that is where my grandfather was from. I can ask my aunt ( dad's sister), if she knows much more about my grandfather if you are interested. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks, William J. Sansing

Re: Dorcas Sansing

From what I have found to date, Dorcas SANSING became pregnant from an unlawful union with her ward Joel Lycergus FLANEGAN who was married to her sister Mary Caroline SANSING. Dorcas' parents had passed on and she was left in his care. We are from the child of this union Joel SANSING - FLANEGAN. I would be interested in any information you have found since this posting. I am just beginning to compile information for our research.
Rose Halpin.
