Bulah (or Beulah?) married Samuel Heatherly. She is my great-grandmother. My mother and her family are all insistant that there is American Indian in her family someone but so far I have been unable to track it down. Has anyone found anything? Thanks

I wrote to you via this website but don't know if you got the email. I only just found your reply to my posting of all those years ago, and am really excited about your connection to William Sanders. I must have got the first names of the parents mixed up somehow as it was indeed William and I assume Harriet his wife who sailed to Port Adelaide aboard the Catherine Jamieson. James and Miss Harriet I knew about but not Robert and Isabella.

Jamrs Gall was not a grandfather of your Anna Gall Rymill nee Sanders, but a friend of the family over here in Scotland who obviously thought much of them to name a child of theirs after Anna, one of JG's daughters, and to give their house the same name as the Galls' home.
I have seen a proof of your Bible presentation plate in JG's papers now in the National Library in Edinburgh, and have some mentions of the family, including one on the day they left Leith for Port Adelaide. That's a strange wee story. My current email address is evelyn186 at btinternet dot com. I'd love to hear about the family and of your descent from Anna. I can send you the notes from JG;s journals, including that wee story from when the family left Leith. I rather suspect that Mrs William Sanders was of an age with Anna Gall, and that the children looked on JG as a grandfather figure!!

I have read all the messages that I could find on William Sanders/Duncan on this board and others.

I talked to jobuduncan who left the last post on this board ---
"I'm William's great-great grandson, and I've looked into the reason for the selection of the name Duncan. William's brother Vandiver married Sarah Jane Duncan, and after they moved to Arkansas, Vandiver took his wife's maiden name, and William did as well since they told everyone they were brothers. I'm not sure what caused William's son Vandiver's death. I still have not found any documentation for that."

jobuduncan does not remember where he heard that Vandever also moved to Arkansas. AND he decided that perhaps he did not because of Vandever being on the 1870 Census in Indiana, and Vandever's younger children being in Clark County, Illinois in 1880.

Yes, today is a busy day.

Yes, that is the correct Vandever Sanders. He was born to Joseph and Nancy about 1824/25 in Indiana.

He lead a regular life through the 1870 Hamilton, Sullivan County, Indiana Census. Then he, his second wife(Mary Morrison), and his 5 oldest children(and their spouses and children) ALL just disappeared permanently.

4 of his 5 youngest children got married in Clark County, Illinois in 1876, 1877, Dec 1880, and 1885. BUT 2 of them - Jacob and Margaret who did not marry until after the Jun 1880 Census are not present on that census.

As you probably know, Vandever was a brother to William Sanders/Duncan.
William and "some of his brothers" got into a feud with the Woodward family over some horses the Woodwards stole. William hit one or two of the Woodwards in the head with an axe in 1866. He was tried but the jury hung and while he was out on bail awaiting the second trial - he skipped bail and the Freemasons helped him relocate to Arkansas and change his name to William Duncan.

So, that makes it more interesting that Vandever Sanders disappeared after 1870.

Some of Vandever's descendants believe that he was called Dan Dower or Dandower Sanders, BUT none can(or will) tell me why they think that.

It is an interesting puzzle that I can't solve.

Rachel Marie Sanders, 79, of Andrews passed away Sunday, October 16, 2005 at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Moody Connor will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews Old Cemetery.
Rachel was born June 5, 1926 in Quanah, Texas to W.O and Marie Worley. She married Dr. B.D. "Don" Sanders January 19, 1944 in Seminole, Texas.
They moved to Andrews in 1954, and opened an Optometrist Office where Rachel helped Don begin his practice. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, liked to work crossword puzzles, and loved being with her family. She was a member of Andrews Church of Christ.
Her parents, her husband, Don, in 2001; and four brothers preceded her in death.
Rachel is survived by: Her Daughter-Suzanne Blackburn and husband Les of Andrews; Her Son- Kip Sanders and his wife Loy of Andrews; Granddaughters- Christy Bright and husband Jeff of San Angelo; Jennifer Sanders of Midland; Grandson-Trey Humphrey and wife April of Andrews; Great-Grandsons - Michael and Kyler Bright and Ryan Humphrey; Great-Granddaughter - Shayden Sanders.
Memorial gifts may be made to: Andrews Church of Christ % Lubbock Children's Home Fund; Home Hospice of Andrews or the American Heart Association.

Lucy Sanders Rodgers

I have been searching for my grandmother, Lucy Sanders' family. It is like looking for a needle in a haystack, but she married Wesley Rodgers in Pontotoc, MS in 1892. She was 14 years old. They had part of their children in Pontotoc County, MS, then they moved to Marked Tree, AR in about 1918. I find her and her chidlren in the 1920 Poinsett census of AR. I have recently found a Azariah Sanders in the 1920 census in the same township, etc as my grandmother. I am wondering if they are related, such as brother and sister. I know the linage from Lucy down to me, but don't know who her mother or father are. She had a half sister who moved to Mississippi County, AR and her name was Lily, who married James (Jim) Trammel. Anyone have any info to help me with?

This Azariah Sanders was 52 years old, wife Lou A. age 46, children: Henry Elmer, Annie, Mary, Robert and another daughter that I can't make out. Any help appreciated.

my great grandfathers name is also a Roscoe D.Sanders born oct 12 1892 he was married to Ella May.i know they had a few children one was Laura May Sanders which is my grandmother,i think the other children were Doris and Bill but im not entirely sure

my grandmother gave me a picture of Roscoe and Ella and she also gave me a picture she took of their grave,i can barely make out the date Roscoe died but it looks like Nov of 1960.

im not sure who Roscoe's parents are,id have to ask my grandmother

and wow this is an old thread but ah well lol

I have a Vandiver Sanders b. 1877 Alabama, d. 1950 Alabama.

Does he fit in with your Vandiver?

Also Mary Arthur Sanders is a family name and early on there was a Mary Arthur Sanders in Georgia. My husband's DNA has a rather close match to a young man in Georgia whose earliest known ancestor is Daniel.

Title of the book is:THE MIXON-MIXSON FAMILY written by John Leslie Mixson. It was given to my maternal grandmother, Louise Mixon Ingram. 385 pages and most difficult to decipher a lot of it.

My name is Charlotte Sanders. DOB 6/30/47 in Dothan, AL. Mother is Nida Virginia Ingram Sanders (Nida) DOB: 3/10/1929. Still alive and well in Sebring, FL. Father was William Dean Sanders (Billy) DOB: 9/24/1926 DOD:2/12/2003. One brother Raymond Douglas Sanders (Doug) DOB 1/30/1954. Alive and well in Sebring, FL. Grandfather: William Douglas Sanders (Will) DOB:1885 DOD: 1/01/1956.
Grandmother: Essis Mae McKnight Sanders DOB: 1898 DOD: 10/2/1992.
I am member of Highlands County Genealogical Society, Sebring, FL. A member suggested that I try Ancestry.com message board because that is where she finally got some answers.
I am trying to get in touch with a relative still alive to obtain infomation. If you can help, I would appreciate it.

My Sanders are from Alabama. Have info on my maternal ancestors (Mixon/Mixson)because book was written and published by a distant relative. However, have little info on my paternal ancestors, Sanders. Am still searching.

Does this book you mention trace the Sanders and Mixon/Mixson families back to Orangeburg, SC? If so, I'd like to ask the title and author. I am the daughter of a Sanders, and have seen some Mixons in our tree. My branch of Sanders lived in the Florida (SE) Parishes of Louisiana, and then moved to Central Illinois about 80 years ago.

I don't know if you ever got an answer to your query, but I found it on a search for Sanders kin.

I have an Amanda Jane Sanders (born about 1845 in Louisiana)in my tree. I can't find any record of her after 1860. I wouldn't know what last name to look for her under, but I wonder if she might be your Amanda Jane. If so, her parents were Thomas Sanders (1828 - 1895) and Malinda Hogan (1826 - 1892) - both were born and died in SE Louisiana.

If this sounds like it might be your great-grandmother, I can give you more on the family.
