I am trying to find more information on Virginia Manasses Samples. From what I understand her family was killed by Indians and she was left on the doorstep & adopted by the Samples (I don't know which family). An 1880 US Census lists her father as W (William) M Dickson. The actual hand written census sheet has "dau" written on it with a couple of illegible words before the word dau. Virginia was about 18 in 1880. If she was adopted by a Samples family then why is she listed as W M Dickson's daughter? Virginia married Harmon Halcom Wingfield on 9/20/1881 in Colorado County, Texas. I would appreciate any information on Virginia or W M Dickson. Thank you, Kay Stacy
