Born 1773 Shoreditch London England the son of Abraham and Ann Samain and brother of my Samuel Samain bn 1768.
Joseph was a Naval Mariner and fought at the battle of Camperdown blockading the Dutch ports, the Dutch were trying to ship mercenaries to Ireland to fight the British interlopers. The 1797 ledgers I researched at Kew were burned round the edges and smelled very strongly of smoke - heaven knows when they were last taken out of their storage boxes.
Next sighting of Joesph is 1806 Baltimore USA when he married widow Jane Ray [nee Pritchard of Liverpool UK]He died in Baltimore 1819.
Suggestions please on where I can research for info re; how Joseph got from the UK to the Naval Dockyards at Baltimore.
