Hi everyone.
I'm the great-grandson of Mason Hannah Samaha, or Mason H Samaha.
He was married to Louise Samaha (nee Somsen or samson, some derivitive thereof)
From what I can find, they had three girls: Jean, Joyce and Joan (my paternal grandmother).
They apparently settled in washington dc., and lived there for quite some time between at least 1917 and 1940, perhaps longer.
I know nothing of them before this time, and that's primarily what im looking for.
I'm unsure of where he might have come from, whether or not they were christian, sunni, shia, or otherwise.
My grandmother told me stories of going to these social functions with other arabic speaking lebanese families, where they would screen movies for the families and have gatherings and whatnot, so Im very curious about whether or not these DC Samahas had any sort of extended family in DC, or if any other branches of the Samaha family know of relatives of theirs relocating to washington dc.
For some reason my grandfather always mistakenly refers to my great grandfather as syrian.
Apparently, and this is just what I gather from my family spitting in the wind, Mason apparently was a businessman of some sort, and I recall my father mentioning before that his family were involved in the export of coffee or something like that. Could be completely wrong, but I just want to put as many feelers out as possible, so to speak.
From what I'm to understand, the Samahas were at one time a rather large family, but Mason seemed to have no relatives in the dc area besides his wife and children.
If anyone has a great great uncle, or has any other information, please reply! Would be much appreciated!
