Rose Ann SAFER (spelled SEYFER on her marriage license) was born about 1812 in Pennsylvania or Ohio and married Gilbert Van Valkenburg in Hocking County, Ohio in 1834. They had thirteen children: Perry, Sarah Jane, Emily, Mary, Rachel, Catherine, Esther, Elizabeth, William, Lydia, Achsah Ann, Sarah, and Isaac.
Gilbert signed a guardianship paper in 1866, but probably died in the late 1860s. Rose Ann is last found in the 1870 census of Starr Township, Hocking County. She still had four children in the household: Lydia, William, Sarah, and Isaac (who later was the longtime police chief of Nelsonville, Ohio), and a grandson, Matthew Wyskiver, son of her deceased daughter, Emily. I am descended from Gilbert and Rose Ann's oldest daughter, Sarah Jane Harden.
I am seeking ANY information about Rose Ann SEYFER/SEIFER/SAFER (or any other spelling) and will gladly share information with anyone.
