STRUTHERS – Joseph A. Safarek Sr., 85, who died on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.
Mr. Safarek was born on July 21, 1927, in Youngstown, Ohio (MAHONING COUNTY) a son of the late Stephen and Mary Vukovich Safarek.
Joseph worked as a Assembler for Graef Windows Inc., retiring after 45 years.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Church.
He enjoyed gardening, bird watching and watching all of the Cleveland sports teams, Browns, Cavs, Indians and Ohio State.
His most precious time was spent being with his wife and family.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Louise Plesac Safarek, whom he married on Feb. 18, 1950; two children, Tomette Copp of Redmond, Wash. and Joseph A. (Mary Jo) Safarek Jr. of Struthers, Ohio; four grandchildren, Thomas (Debbie) Batteiger, Heather (Myron) Sahli, Holly (Phil) Schiffler, andJospeh A. Safarek III; and five great-grandchildren, Jack, Paige, Isabella, Rylee and Calee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Spisak; and three brothers, Stephen, Charles and John Safarek.
Prayer services will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home Inc., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church, for
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home Inc., 258 Poland Ave. in Struthers.
Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery.
